I love the Tiki Room. And I'm ashamed that a fellow New Yorker would fail to realize that this monstrosity is a horrific *******ization of the Tiki Room. Boo to you.

Hopefully if they need to refurbish the attraction they will put it back to its original format. A tiki room without Zazu and Iago would be a welcome sight! Perhaps this will give Walt Disney World an excuse "change management" in the tiki room back to Jose, Piere, Fritz, and the rest of the gang. The tiki gods would be pleased!

I actually read on another website that Iago DID burn (the one that appears in the beginning of the show). And that it's still closed. They didn't have any other details.

I just read on another website that Iago DID burn past the point of repair (the one from the beginning of the show). I hope that he can be reincarnated soon!

That's a Different Audio Animatronic than earlier in the show. The Tiki Gods take him away, then he shows up burned.

We went to DL in 2009 & enjoyed the Original show. Under new management was OK the first few times to watch... but need to be changed... either the classic show or updated. Either way... I hope they include the entire Tiki Tiki Tiki Room Song. Especially since the Documentary "The Boys"(Richard & Robert Sherman) was released last year... it would be a shame not to utilize the song fully.

the hard core fans want tiki room in any form.
imaginers could not change it again without very good reason.

I was there the evening that it happened...I remember walking past on my way to Pirates and smelling smoke but not seeing anything amiss so I didn't think much of it. I had only been to Disney once before so I wasn't sure if it was part of an attraction or not
I went on Pirates and while I was going through the ride the sound for the attraction stopped. Very strange to see everything moving but absolutly no sound. When I got off the ride the castmember apologized for the technical dificulties and when I left the building I saw firefighters walking around. I then realized what must have happened but I thought it must not have been too serious since they weren't trying to keep people away. I wonder if the problems on Pirates had anything to do with the fire in the Tiki room?

Yeah TDO should give us the Disneyland version here at WDW (close to the original)... very much better than what we have currently.

I was backstage getting the floats situated after our final MISICI when it happened but I never have the radio set to Operations while doing so (to much chatter). When I came around the corner to secure the roadway I was greeted by a half dozen RCFD trucks, a couple ambulances and another half dozen RCFD SUVs. Needless to say I was surprised. Without getting into the nitty-gritty details it was a small fire that caused one hell of a mess due to "unexpected complications" with our sprinkler system.

Anyways, the ride is still 101 and from what I understand it is coming back with the original cast.

EDIT: With that said, even with the multiple stations just outside the park I was impressed with the speed at which RCFD arrived, the level of communication they had with other departments and generally how quickly the sitiation was de-esclated. I have spent time with Sherrifs Departments and was once trained in ALS/CPR and this was the best response I have ever seen. Kudos to RCFD.

Man, they bring the old Tiki Room back I might make a special trip for the opening. (That's how much I love the original.)
