At Disney, it is oh so tempting to eat all the good fried food. And I did. And I gained 5 pounds. Not only that, but when I got home and started eating regular food again, I got really sick :guilty:

My advice, Disney has some of the best salads around! I had a Salad at America in Epcot, to this day, it's the best Caesar Salad I've ever had, sure it's god fattening dressing on it, but, salad with veggies, or fried chicken with no veggies, you do the math :goodvibes

And if you get the cups at your hotel, just because it's a Disney cup, doesn't mean that when you put soda in it, the calories magically dissappear. The water at disney was horrible (or i thought, us Mainer's are spoiled with deep fresh water!) so Diet Soda is a must, and lots of bottled water!

When are you going, wouldn't it be fab if we were going to be there at the same time?!?!

That would be AWESOME-fab!

So try every salad you encounter, and there are no magic calories there? Man! I don't know what kind of water we have, or will have, but I'm takin' the Crystal Light packs!

Thanks, Twinks!! :goodvibes

Your welcome! We'll be there the 30th of november through dec. 7th! The thing with the water, ugh, I can't even describe it! I didn't shower the whole time we were there! Which I know is disgusting, but the smell of the water made me want to toss my cookies!

I'll just miss you...the 12th through the 19th! :( Where will you be staying? We'll be at POP in a preferred room.

Maybe we should get a LOT of bottled water before we go...

Hi Jen,

Some tips that are food related and not from me!

* At table service restaurants if you want to make substitutions or need to see if they can prepare something differently for you, definitely ask! The Disney chefs are very accomodating.

* Watch for the fruit/healthy snack carts in the parks. I know there is one in MK, and you definitely could get some good healthy snacks in Epcot. Even though I was not dieting at the time one of my favorite snacks this past trip was the nice cold seedless grapes I had while watching the "Share a Dream" parade.

* Go to the park openings each morning! I know it is early but it is soooo worth it! Magical even! The MK opening is my fave as the characters arrive on the train above the entrance.

* Don't limit where you go for meals! Try out the restaurants at the different resorts too. I stayed at Pop last trip and ate at the Poly once and AKL. I say seeing the AKL is a must. So gorgeous! I will stay there one day!! hehe!

* If you are looking for a good swim and the Hippy trippy pool at Pop is crowded visit the bowling pin or computer pools. I have found they tend to be less crowded. Though I love the Hippy Trippy pool! hehe!

* If it rains, go to the parks anyway! I had the best time because the parks were empty!

* Read the DIS boards!!! hehe!! So much has been said already on the Tip board and Theme Park boards. Also on the resort board, check out the Pop Century FAQ if you haven't. It has pages & pages of great info! hehe!

Hope those help!
Mike :sunny:

Thanks!!! I will have to check those out...I  my fruits!!!

They really really help, Mike!! Thanks!

 to Twinks!

Is this the first trip to Disney? It sounds wonderful in December, plus crowds should be low then so that is a BONUS.
Are you back in school now already?

Hi calena!!! Long time no see!

Yes, it's our VERY first trip to Disney!!! And school starts August 23!

S: 2 cups cereal (4), celery with italian dressing dips (0)

Awww, darn it, maybe I can just hang around an extra 5 days :earboy2:

We're staying at the Carribean Beach Resort! We stayed at All Star Music our first time, it was wonderful!

Congrats on the new clippie for your weight loss and that YOU'RE GOING TO DISNEY!!!!! BRAVO and whooooooohoooooooo!!!!!

Any advice for first-timers - hmmmmm....the drinking water is not that bad. I'm a very picky water drinker and the fountains were much better than Aquafina - I don't like Aquafina. Or we would bring our own water from home (we always drive) and take it in our backpacks - I know a bit heavy but it was fine.

There are fruit carts like Mike said at most of the parks - I know the one at MGM is down by TOT and Rock 'n Roller Coaster. Most of the resorts have shops with food or counter service restaurants that have fresh fruit too. We have always gotten an apple or something we can throw in the backpack to take with us and have during the day.

If you want something sweet - make it good and only do it once a day or once every couple of days. This is going to be a hard area for me but I'll be able to do it.

Don't waste your time on the popcorn out of the carts - NOT worth it in my book.

HAVE FUN!!!!! That's the best tip I can give.

Keep on
Chris

Twinks-you SO should!! CBR sounds beautiful!!!

Hi Chris!!! I haven't gotten a new clippie yet...but I did get a quote in color under my name! Thanks for the tips...I will really put them to use!!!

I've been having a lot of freakishly bad dreams that I can't understand-not eating before bed or anything.

I did have homemade hamburgers last night...they don't make me sick!

Hey! Who's going to have a loser tastic day?! We are! That's who!:thewave:

What are you up today!?

Hi Twinks!!! What are you doing home from "work"? Let's have a losertastic day!!

My plans were just to DIS and get that book I have at the library.

I was sick last night, so I decided to hang out at the house today! I'm going to DIS and watch Beauty and the Beast at some point today!

One thing we did not do on our first trip, but we did on our second and now will do every trip is Chef Mickey's. I know you were looking for food advice on how to reduce at WDW not to go to a buffet but it is worth it! The first time I thought it would be too expensive and you see the characters in the park anyway, but it is just a fun interaction place and the food is good too. Just because it is a buffet does not mean pig out either. Just choose what you want, drink your water and eat. Save points and plan an extra exercise routine for that day! :flower:
I did not gain weight on either Disney trip. I really feel it is because I was so busy! You walk in the parks and at your resort you can swim/workout etc. I would do a 30 minute workout each morning even if it was a park day just give myself a boost. I also took water bottles for each of us and we drank tons of water all day. I am also a bit cheap I guess because I would not buy tons of snacks. Just lunch and I took along fruit in the backpack. (Put it in a locker if you don't want to lug it around).
So exciting to go on your first trip. You will LOVE it! Our next trip is 2007. half-marathon?

Feeling better, Ms. Twinks? What great plans!!!

Thanks, calena! We were planning a trip to CM's too...my brother is practicing his napkin twirling! (I'll take any trips: reduce, EMH, etc... I love tips!)

B: 2 slices PB toast (6)
L: 1/4 cup macaroni and cheese (4.5), veggie plate of 2 tomatoes sliced up and 4 celery sticks and homemade dressing to dip in (.5)

YUM!! Exercise: 20 minute walk (10 each way) to the library...where they still don't have any good guidebooks!

Hmm, I'm contemplating going running, but I'm afraid that I wont be able to make it all the way!

Jen - that's wonderful news about the disney trip being back on AND getting tagged. What a great way to head into your birthday :)

Unfortunately I don't have any healthy disney tips food wise - I always pig out when we go since we get the 3 meals/day package. I love to eat there, just as long as I don't keep those eating habits at home. Here are the tips I do have and sorry if someone already mentioned them. 1) Don't underestimate the amount of walking you'll do in a day - it's a whole lot so be sure you have some comfy shoes (at least one pair, or more if you're me and get nasty blisters no matter what). 2) (goes along with 1) be sure to drink plenty of water since all that walking will take a toll on your body. 3) Be sure to have a wonderful time (I know you will anyway)

Hmm - good thing you've never met mickey down there before b/c I doubt he'd recognize you after all the weight you've lost already and plenty more to come before you get there :sunny:

Hi Stephenie! Should I take a picture of me before so he still kinda recognizes me? I'll take any tips and will probably use all of them! 1 & 2 I can do, but I'm not so sure on 3... :p ;) Thanks! (But of course...I'd love to be a 150er in December!!)

Twinks-You can DO it!!

Snack: cheese stick (2), 2 tomatoes with dressing-dip (0)
