Tiger Fans Do Disney – Final Thoughts

Dates: June 2-14

Cast: Lisa, Lynn, Emily and Lisa’s Parents

This trip was wonderful and we are so glad we had this much time allowing us to take things really slow. After over a year of treatments I really have to pace myself as I’m getting back in the swing of things and this worked well.

I’m going to list some of the highlights from this trip, trying not to duplicate too much from my reports.

It was wonderful to have my parents down for part of the trip. Experiencing WDW with them was wonderful. They had taken me twice as a child, but having them with us and enjoying Emily was very special.

We loved The Yacht Club. We are so glad we treated ourselves to this resort. We spent much more time here at the pool and less at the parks the second week than we intended, but loved how wonderful this entire place is.

Seeing Mickey and Minnie “get married” at the Wedding Gazebo was simply magical. I can’t wait to see all the pictures we took of this event.

Sunday Brunch at Spoodles is so incredible. This is now a must do for us.

We had wonderful character interaction almost every time we turned around. Emily finds this to be as much fun as any attraction or ride and we enjoy indulging her in this. The memories are wonderful.

The Illuminations Cruise with my parents was fabulous. My mom loves fireworks and she was speechless during this entire show. She lists this as her favorite night at WDW.

Being at The Yacht Club with the Vice President was a neat thing, too bad we didn’t get to meet.

We only had a couple of letdowns the entire two weeks.

The first week we had a lot of rain and had to plan accordingly. I know how bad Florida has needed rain, so I always reminded myself to that. One night on the news we heard that Orlando had received more rain the first 7 days of June than it had the entire first 5 months of the year, it helped the fires, but did slow us a bit. As for the fires, we only had one time that we smelled any smoke and that was last Sunday at Downtown Disney. It was gone by morning.

Mickey’s Backyard BBQ was a huge letdown for us. You can read specifics on my restaurant review or ask questions.

Animal Kingdom was much worse in the heat than I remembered. I love this park, but I couldn’t take it this year.

Early entry and e-ticket were more crowded than any times in the past for us, I simply don’t believe that crowds are down this summer.

Overall this trip was just as wonderful as we could have imagined. I’ll be planning our next trip soon! Thanks for reading.

I liked the way you broke up your trip reports, they were different and fun to read. The MK was extremely crowded one of the days we were there too.

just read through all the reports and I enjoyed them all. sounds like you had a wonderful trip and made many wonderful memories for all of you. I hope you are feeling well and have enough energy to start planning another trip!

I've enjoyed your reports. It was nice that you could take 2 weeks and being at the YC, lucky you! I'm glad that Emily was tall enough to ride more rides. She's brave to ride TOT at her age. Maybe you can do RnR next time, its one of my favs. Sounds like you knew how to pace yourself. One of my favorite things when we went this year was watching multi-generation families together. I've already told my kids(ages 10 & 15) that I'm going with them when they take their kids!!!

Thanks for posting. I enjoyed your reports and thought your format was great.

Tiger Fan, thanks so much for your reports! They are some of the best I have ever read, and I particularly like the way you broke them down into different categories.

Thanks to your reports, I hope to:

1. Stay at YC or BC

2. Host a trip with my parents and siblings as guests

3. Eat at some of the places you ate at

All this is possible for me, though it will take some time, saving and planning!

Good luck to you, and hope that you are in the best of health. My thoughts are with you!
