This is the new made for TV Disney channel movie. it was on last night.

What a great movie, very well done. It's about an air craft carrier on the last leg of a cruise and they bring civilian family members aboard.

It is fiction based on historical events..the event happens to be 9/11. The cruise takes place during that time.

Excellent movie, find it on the Disney Channel.

Anyone else see it?

I saw it ...I cried.

I thought it was so well done and a great movie to help kids understand what happened that day and how everyone was effected.

In a way it reminded me of Remember the Titans. It explained an historical event to kids from a perspective they could relate to.

I cried during the commercials. LOL I do plan on watching this movie. DSs are away for a few more days. When they come home, we'll find it on the Disney channel and watch it. (I'm sure they'll be replaying it for a while, as they usually do with their own movies). Thanks for the reminder :)

Figment: I agree with you regarding certain movies. They can bring history to life for kids, instead of just listening to a teacher or parent talk about a certain event or time period. It brings it to them in a form which they can see, hear, and understand.

It sounds like a really good show to watch with your kids. Thanks for letting me know.

Excellently done show.

We watched it with our 7 year old--who had plenty of questions about the Twin Towers, etc.

We highly recommend seeing this show.

I just saw this movie tonight (8-7), it was a very good movie.

It was great. Our family sat down and watched it together, and with my dh being Air Force, thinking about retirement, it stimulated alot of discussion in our house.

I watched it tonight. I thought it was a well done film that approached issues of 9/11 in a non "heavy handed" way. Easy to discuss it with the offspring.

It brought back many memories of my time flying off carriers. Flashback city.

Nice flick. Poignant.

watch it with the kids.

My nine year old dd watched it last night. She loved it. Tonight I caught portions of it and am eager to watch the movie in full.

DD phoned my mom and asked her record it tonight for her so she can watch it with grandpa tomorrow when she spends the night.

She is very eager to watch it with him because in the film they say, "U.S.S. Constellation reporting to port". My dad was on the Constellation during Vietnam.

My husband told me this evening that dd talked all about the movie today while they were out. He said they had a good discussion about 9/11's events and the people who sacrifice for us daily.

I am so happy Disney is airing things that are intelligent and promoting discussion of important events with our children. While we all try to discuss these things with our children, it gives them a basis for starting a discussion on their own terms. :)

Missed it, but we would like to see it. I'm sure it'll come on again.

We saw the movie about 2 weeks ago. DH works for Cox Communications and they had a premier showing at a local theater, for employees and their families. Our DgrD went with us. She is almost 11 y/o. We all really liked it a lot. I'm glad I had a hankie in my purse - DgrD needed it. She & I had figured that 9/11 would be part of it. We noticed the date at the beginning of the movie. We went to eat afterwards and she was full of questions and comments. It was a great movie. DH was in the Navy, so he really connected with it.

Poohstyx

We just saw it tonight. Even DH sat down to watch it with us. I can't give it a better compliment than that. :D

Watching it right now. DH and I returned from a trip to Hawaii 2 months ago and the segement leaving Pearl Harbor had me crying. Touching. Already I think this movie is great and well done. What a great tribute to our men and women in uniform. GREAT JOB DISNEY!:D

My DD#2 watched this with her friend (both 9) during a sleepover here--I watched part of it and listened to part of it (in the next room) and it was very well done.

It's nice to see so many families enjoying good quality programming, hope Disney gets the results and continues as such.

I watched it too, it was very good, made me cry as well. Movies like it just make my respect for our military, and their families, grow even more. The sacrifices they make for us...
