Tiffins ROL on Dining Plan

My husband and I are trying to decide whether we want to add the standard DDP to our DVC reservation. We have already booked the ROL package, which includes a non-alcoholic beverage. If we use 2 TS credits instead, will the package then include an alcoholic beverage?

Early reports are that DDP users do get the alcoholic drink. However, do some math. The meal cost for an adult is $67. Your TS credit is worth about $42. So you'd actually be "paying" $84 for that $67 meal. If the drink cost is $17 or more, I guess it might be worth it.

We are staying 6 nights and have 'Ohana dinner, ROL Tiffins dinner, and the Bon Voyage Breakfast booked. Using one of the online calculators, I'm thinking the dining plan wouldn't really be the best choice for us.

Believe it or not, the alcohol could be the tipping point. If you want or will purchase an alcoholic drink at all of those, you will pay extra if paying OOP, but it will be "free" with the DDP. I have a feeling the online calculator is not factoring that into the equation. Even in the example of Tiffins I gave above, Tiffins has quite a few drinks over the $17 to make using two credits feasible. Ohana and Bon Voyage are only one credit, so there's not even a price point needed there; if you want a drink, it's covered.

I know that the dining plan is not good for every alcoholic drink. We ate at the Ale and Compass when we had the Deluxe Dining Plan and my wife asked about a $17 glass of wine. It was not covered. I believe they told us it was any drink less than $14.

Each restaurant is deciding their own and there are reports of some pretty high priced drinks being allowed, but you're right, not everything on the menu qualifies.

Watching with interest. We are looking at the same situation for our next trip. We have APs and considering TiW but it is difficult to predict which option will offer the best value. One difference is our reservation is at Tusker House.

I've found TiW was "worth it" when we would use it for at least two 8 day trips and we'd dine mostly Signature. But that was pre-kids and we weren't factoring in character meals.

When we had APs 2015-2016 we had one 4 day trip and one 11 day trip and we did not hit the break even point (we had not purchased TiW for those trips).
