Tiffins RoL Dining Package on the Dining Plan??

I'm considering the Rivers of Light Dining Plan at Tiffins for our trip next March. Correct me if I am wrong, but it sees while this meal does qualify for 2 TS credits on the Dining Plan, it doesn't follow the typical TS credit policy in that you get an appetizer, an entree, a dessert, and beverage (rather than just an entree, a dessert, and beverage). Is that correct? Also It currently specifies that an alcoholic beverage is not included. Any idea if this might change in 2018 with alcohol now included on the dining plan TS credits? I don't currently have the Dining Plan, but may add it if it would work for us. Just trying to figure out how it would work for us. The biggest thing that stops me is that you can't get an starter course on the dining plan which we normally would, along with beer/wine and one one dessert to share. With this RoL package, at least one meal may include the first course (but maybe not the alcohol?)

Whether you use DDP credits or pay OOP, if you do the RoL package, you will get the appetizer (at least for now). There was an article back in the late spring that Fantasmic! dinner packages were doing away with the appetizer, but there's nothing official about that one yet, and no news if they will extend that to the other dinner packages.

As to the alcohol, you'll just have to wait and see on that one. That same article about taking away the app was very explicit that there would be NO alcohol with F! packages, so you may lose that entitlement if you use the dining plan to pay for RoL dinner package as well.

It's looking less and less like the Dining Plan will work for us. We just don't want to be tied to its limitations (2 desserts, no salad, e.g.). We could pay extra for what we want, but then there would be no cost savings (and we just don't need to eat that much). I'd only really consider it if there was a real cost benefit. I have an ADR for Tiffins until the RoL Dining Package schedules are set for March. If the RoL/Tiffins Dining Package takes away the appetizer, we would probably just keep my Tiffins ADR and FP+ RoL.

Some restaurants will let you swap a dessert for a salad on the dining plan. You would need to ask your server.

But the dining plan isn't for everyone, it's true.

I have an additional questions for the ROL at Tiffins. The package a fixed price? Second, if so is the menu limited?

Thanks in advance.

It's noted on the Disney website.

THANK YOU for that update! The last time I checked the F! page, it wasn't showing the 2018 update. Interesting that it does still say NON-alcoholic beverage. That seems to indicate that using a dining plan for it will take away that entitlement.
I noticed that, too, and was not impressed!

Has anyone used a Deluxe dining plan in 2018 with the package? If so, any first hand feedback if they honor the alcoholic drink provision of the DDP?

I’d like to know as well. The DDP and DxDDP should still offer the alcoholic drink. I can see why they wouldn’t put this information on the website so people using cash wouldn’t think an alcoholic drink was included.

Overall Disney could communicate the 2018 dining plan a lot better for these special packages: Rivers of Light is another one where the same question could be asked. I have seen that Tuskee does give the alcoholic beverage on the package with a dining plan at least.
