Tiffany Towncar thoughts?

Well, I wouldn't use FL Tours!I tried several times to call them, only to get a voice mail. What if I needed to contact them about a change of plans? Tiffiany at least answers their phone!Which was important because we had a last minute change of plans in Orlando and could contact Tiffiany. Don't forget, in a hotel room your phone doesn't have callwaiting, instant voice mail, and all the other options we've come to depend on. When you make a call from your hotel you need the other person to answer the phone. Try it--call Fl and TTC and see who responds best to your phone call.

We used Tiffany Town Car last summer for a family vacation. We were 5 adults and 1 child so we used a van. WE LOVED THEM. Our driver met us at the bottom of the escalator, helped us with our bags, had a child booster seat as requested, and stopped at the store as requested. I can't remember his name but he was very friendly and courteous. He also was our driver for our return trip. Our van cost us 95.00 roundtrip plus tip. It turned out to be cheaper to hire the van than using the Mears shuttle. I would use them again without hesitation.

My DH and I uses Tiffany in FEb. and had wonderful service. Our driver was waiting for us at baggage claim area. got our bags off baggage carososel to us. Loaded them in car, unloaded them at POP century. Upon our return trip He was there 15 min early and assisted with bags once again. There is also a 8.00 off coupon in back of passporter for passporter owners.

We have used Tiffany several times and have not had any problems. I have read on this board before where they did not pick someone up. I have heard this problem with other towncar services also. One of the things I have found out that most of the towncar services do sometimes bring in someone to get thierr overflow. I also know that sometimes they hire a bad driver then fire them. I would recommend Tiffany to anyone, just be aware things do happen with all of them including mears. All of our kids are grown, so I have no idea about the car seat issue.

However, I heard from a travel agent that they have a history of leaving people stranded and/or showing up late.

I wasn't going to reply, since it seems the overwhelming majority of Disers experience with Tiffany is excellent. But I was one of the people who was not picked up by Tiffanty at MCO, even after the night-before confirmation. We waited for a long time, called them and only got voice mail, and finally had to take another car to our resort. Later on, there was a message from Tiffany at our resort, apologizing that the driver mistakenly went to the wrong terminal. They offered to do our airport return for free, and we took them up on it.

So even though they messed up in the beginning, they were very professional about it and made amends.

We were happy with TTC and are using them again for our trip next week (2/23-3/1). However, we did have a problem with getting picked up at the airport. No one was there when we arrived and after waiting for our bags, plus another 20 minutes, we finally called them from a payphone to see what was up, but they apologized profusely and had someone there within 10 minutes who was excellent and took us to the supermarket on the way (Publix I think). It was an inconvience, but as someone pointed out, they always pick up the phone when you call and they were exceedingly nice. No hesitation in using them again this time (though I will call to confirm tomorrow, as that may have had something to do with the problem- they had a computer glitch, which lost our original reservation info out of the computer, which if I had called, would've been rectified before we even left).

For 8 people you could rent a van. It costs 95.00 round trip for the van.

I have never used TT before, but I booked with them already for our March 27th trip. I emailed them on the weekend, but never got a response back. I called them last Wednesday and they did confirm our reservation. On our last trip in 2001, we used Mears, and it was really a pain. Then we only had 2 kids, 10 and 1. The 1 year old was a lap baby on the plane, so we checked the car seat thinking we would need it when we got to MCO. On Mears, we had to just lap sit our baby too, so our car seat turned out to be just extra luggage. This time, our kids are 13, 4, and 2, and all have their own plane seat, so now we are dragging 2 car seats. This time with TT, we told them we are bringing our seats, so we feel this is going to be a lot safer.

One question for those that used the grocery stop; it sounds like they go to Publix and maybe Albertson's. Can you order ahead of time from these stores and have it ready to go when you get there? We will be staying at BWV and plan to take advantage of the kitchen, so I can't imagine that 20 minutes is enough time to run through an unfamiliar store and get all that we need for 10 days!! If they do take preorders, can you also tell me what the store location is so I can contact them? TIA for your help:cool:

Just wanted to chime in that I've never had anything but good experiences with Tiffany. Always prompt, always great drivers, always great service. I tend to be one of those people that confirms everything ahead of time anyway, so that part of the transaction never bothered me.

Mears, on the otherhand, left me stranded TWICE on one trip!!!! Never again, never again...

:( This is overwhelmingly confusing. I just posted a question on the Universal board about limos and towncars. A lot of people are now recommending Tiffany. However, I heard from a travel agent that they have a history of leaving people stranded and/or showing up late. Also, I always check the Better Business Bureau site before I pick a company (www.bbb.com) and of the three companies I checked (Tiffany, Florida Tours and Happy Limo), Tiffany was the only one with a complaint listed in their history section.

I was kind of sold on Florida Tours because when I emailed them with questions, they responded within 30 minutes -- both times! Anyone ever use them? Happy Limo also seems to have a good rep. Thanks.

Remember though, you're talking to real people here who have had real experiences with Tiffany, etc. And the vast majority of them good. Anyone can make mistakes, but from what I read here, their track record is excellent. Just my two cents.

To 5infam...we are a family of five as well. I had the exact same fear as you, it won't be enough time. We used Tiffany for the first time last month, awesome service. Larry was our driver, he gave us a discount card at Cash and Carry, so that is where we stopped. It looked identical to our Stop and Shop at home, it was great. Anyway, what I did, was write a list before we left home, this was so helpful. We ended up not cooking anyway in our DVC home (BCV's), just bfast and snacks and drink stuff. We went up and down every aisle of that store and still had time to spare. They give you 30 minutes, but I'm sure if you were a few minutes late, they wouldn't mind. Please don't worry about this, you really will get through the store in plenty of time. Enjoy, and I hope you get Larry too! :D

I have heard not so great things on fl tours plus they do not take credit cards and if a company can't take credit i have doubts, i will be using tiffany thanks to the great posts on here, and or the person with the bbb comment, it is good to check with the better business bureau but many times people may just not bother making a complaint, so that does not mean the other companies are just as good or bad, keep an open mind, i called tiffany and they answered the phone right away so it may just be a glitch good luck

Jillpie,

Thanks for the advice!! In my reservation, we asked for Larry based on comments that I read on this board. I guess I will make my list and figure it out when I get there. The best thing to do is to go in alone and leave the wife and kids in the van...that will save me quite a bit of time I'm sure:cool:

Someone had mentioned Tiffany's not having regular car seats. I just called, and they had both car seats and booster seats (although they would not let me have two car seats...so we won't be going with them).

Good luck!
