My DD7 found this piece today on our local bike path. We were curious about it's worth. I can't seem to find it's equivalent online. Not sure if it's valuable or not!

It looks like a fake piece to me. The stones just look a little off in the setting, and it doesn't look like anything that I've seen in a Tiffany Catalog. (That's not to say they don't make one like that, I've just not seen one before.)

I'm not sure myself but I will say in real life the stones don't look off at all. We're trying to decide if we need to notify anyone that we found this in case someone is looking for it.

Okay, I searched online for a guideline on how to tell if some pieces are real and came up with this...

EVERY Tiffany piece is stamped with the Tiffany & Co. mark and the metal mark (e.g. Tiffany & Co. 925, or T & Co. 925) Many pieces are stamped with the date the piece was trademarked, the Tiffany logo, and the metal content, in that order (e.g. 2001 Tiffany & Co. 925). The pieces by artists such as Elsa Peretti, Paloma Picasso, Frank Gehry etc, will be signed as well as stamped. When buying a piece that has a chain and pendant (e.g. the Tiffany bar pendant) BOTH the pendant AND the chain will be marked Tiffany & Co 925, sometimes along with the word ITALY on the other side of the ring clasp in the back.

Oh, just great. In searching, I found a Tiffany charm octopus that I just HAVE to have!

Yours looks like a charm with the jump loop removed. The setting of the diamonds matches a few of their other diamond charms, but the font is throwing me off. If real, my guess is that it is from 10-15 years ago, but I can't say exactly.

Do you have a Tiffany around you? They are popping up like weeds around here.

I don't think the 925 is stamped on every piece. See here:

 I wasn't berating you, or anything like that.

The font IS different from the pic I posted.

The 925 is there if it is silver and it isn't always there.

But, how many jewelers can fake a 925? All of them! :lmao:

Does it feel weighty? What does the back look like?

Yes, it is weighty and here's the back... (again it looks better in person)

I think that type of diamond/cubic zirconia setting is called "pave," pronounced "pa-VAY".

I wonder if they change the fonts every several years so they know which decade/era a piece is from? :scratchin

From my experience Tiffany stuff is generally collectible because of it's age. Lalique pieces are a good example of what I mean. You can still buy Lalique but the real value of most Lalique comes with it becoming an *antique*.
This looks like a new piece and may or may not be sterling but I'm not sure what else it would be. The .925 could be miniscule anywhere on the piece. Anywhere.
I would be very surprised if the stones were real. Please surprise me! LOL

Yes, I know pave, and it is usually smaller as in a field of diamonds such that you can't see between the little darlings.

I'm shocked by the back. I wasn't expecting such detail. WOW. Even the shape of the heart on the front isn't like other Tiffany hearts.

I'm confuzzled. Can you take it to an appraiser? I'm dying to know more about it.

I hate people who copy pictures but I wanted to point out two things. 1. See that little crook in the lower part of hearts? THAT'S a Tiffany heart shape. 2. Some of the hearts are reversed so that they fit together well in the pattern.

Neat.

OP, if you are in So. NJ, there is a Tiffany's in Atlantic City. :hyper:
