Tiered parking

If you end up all the way that the far end of a row at Epcot you are going to wonder why you paid an extra $15 for the privilege of walking just as far as someone you got a spot at the near end of a row in a lot further from the park entrance. Most of those parking rows are very long.

Also, at MK you really need to ride the tram no matter where you park. Not sure why anyone would pay for a shorter tram ride.
LOL we have parked in the far out portion of the Epcot lot - we joked to the CM that we could see Russia from our parking place - he didn't get it...

at MK we have parked in Jafar and Aladdin( old Minnie lot) and walked in easily

We never ride the tram when we park at Magic Kingdom.

How is handicapped parking being handled? Are those spaces still up front? If you are staying at a Disney resort and have a handicapped plate will you have to pay to park there?

This does not bother me. It is a choice one can make, so I prefer that over the resort fees we have been discussing.

I agree it's a choice. Yes its a business and they are looking for money making opps and have every right to.
But, this is another example of taking something away. Ambitious park goers used to be able to get there early and get the best parking spots and fast passes etc. Now there is a fee or a catch for these things. It's extra irritating because it is right on the heels of the story about resort fees, tiered prices, dining plan hikes. The pr people think Disney is invincible . But I think this rush of prices increases or changes in 2 weeks time was a little short sighted on their part. Spread the greed out a little, geez.

Just getting annoying.

I for one would never pay...our last trip.we racked up about 15 miles at the park...whats a few more steps in the parking lot? Never even been on a tram. With strollers it's more work than its worth to use a tram (Fully understand if there are mobility issues)

I think we need a thread dedicated to what we think they will try next.

I think it is free refills at certain location...gonna have to start scanning the band for that type of luxury. (Sadly, not joking)

Are you sure that you are thinking of MK? Some parts of that parking lot would be well over a mile from the tram drop-off.

I wasn't the original poster, but I have never rode it. We had 15 miles in the park last time...what's another few steps even if it's a mile. We almost always beat the tram too.

Did they eliminate the medical overflow parking?

MK has a separate lot, so it shouldn't be an issue there. Not sure about Epcot. But the Amaze lot is huge, so even if they only release half the spaces to preferred parking and keep the rest handicap, then they will still be offering ~500 spots like at MK

I'm not planning on visiting Epcot until this weekend, but if no one reports back by then, I will try to update

LOL - I get that, but I run 5 miles each morning so we ride when we can.

Agreeing with Poppinspenguins re: strollers

I think the farthest away we've been is the middle of the middle left lot (see pic on pg 2). With 2 strollers and all the stuff you bring for a family of 6, the tram is more a hassle than anything else. We boot it to the ferry instead.

I'd hate to pay $15 extra bucks for Jafar and then watch people pull into the lot right next to it which looks to be as close or closer for most of those cars.

We rode the tram once at Epcot...it wasn't stroller friendly. We have walked every we have driven since. Granted we only started driving 3 or 4 trips ago but in February we walked from the MK lot twice and the DHS lot once. The MK walk can get long but when you consider we are walking between 8 and 12 miles a day anyway what difference does it make. We didn't get to the park until after 2 on 2-18 but the walk didn't really bother us regardless. Well, DS13 is a moody teenager and everything bother him but me and DW were fine.

ETA: I took a google maps overhead look and there would be some places that DS13 would really hate walking from...we've been lucky so far though :)

Yes, please do, if you can. My dad has a handicap placard so we'll be parking in the handicap spots for our June trip. TIA

Are you talking about the Aladdin lot?

The only time cars are loaded there is in the morning, and it is a bit more out of the way since it is off to the side from the tunnel. To get to it you need to walk across Jafar or cross several roads

The only other lot that is closer is the little peninsula of Zurg which is dedicated handicap parking

That would be appreciated if you could update. I found disabled parking filled up before, but my memory isn't good enough to recall which lot(s). I seem to recall AK's HP parking filling up.

How many years before tiered fast passes?

One year they will need it to keep up the yearly profit increase after they have drained every other tiered option.

Some executive somewhere is getting a huge bonus this year with all these cuts and revenue increases at WDW this year (all in the course of several months!)

Selling premium parking is fine.
When I went there in Oct. 2014, I had AAA at the time and used that to get in the AAA lot. I was told to not bother using it for MK, because the lot didn't really get you much closer (and when I got there I noticed it wasn't really .. because of monorail/boat, premium parking isn't really a factor at MK in my opinion)

At AK and DHS I used it and it did indeed get us pretty close, so that was nice with a toddler and stroller. Didn't need to use a tram at either place.
So they've had this before . .I paid for AAA membership and that membership got me special parking at the parks. Once they dissolved that, I figured this would come (surprised it didn't come sooner).

I can see families paying that $15 in order to save money on lunch .. so they can just walk back (at DHS, Epcot, AK) to the car and have a picnic lunch (or dinner) ..

The problem is you pay for this up front without really knowing how close you really will be. Someone will end up being at the "back" of the premium lot and not having that great a spot compared to someone else.

Wouldn't shock me one bit.

How much would people pay for ONE extra use anytime/anywhere fast pass per day? No need to schedule it . .just go on any ride at any time of day and just skip that line.

How much would people pay to just use Fast Pass lines ALL day .. no restrictions on time?

Considering how much people pay to stay at a Deluxe on-site resort, I'd gather a lot of people would pay for the option to skip more lines.
