Tiered FP+ for DHS

Why is anyone surprised? MAYBE MK won't go the same route but I bet that AK will.

I think AK will too. If only so it doesnt look like the loser park that doesnt need tiers.

I think MK will too, the more I think about it. Because of the Mine Coaster.

I keep forgetting about that mine coaster. It has been in the building stage for an awful long time after all. :)

I still see MK as having so many more great rides that this might take the pressure off. AK is actually better off than Epcot and DHS but it's still going to be next I bet.

Someone posted that early on in the test ALL the parks had tier choices and then Disney removed them. I think they're just putting them back, one park at a time. However, I still fail to see how MK fits in there, just by virtue of having so many attractions. Maybe the mountains, like someone said, but what about the new Fantasyland?

A while back I selected TSM , RnR and fantasmic for our December 20 trip. With this now being rolled out, if I try to change fantasmic to something else, will I not be able to still keep TSM and RnR? If so, guess I will waste a fp on fantasmic and stay put. Also, if I don't change, these selections will still be honored, right?

I selected my Epcot fastpass+ before they announced the tiers. I had Soarin', Test Track and the Character Spot. After reading that the Character Spot was really a waste of a fastpass+ as the lines are short, I wanted to change it. I did it the other day. It allowed me to make the change, but the ONLY thing it offered me was Maelstrom, which is also a top tier fastpass+. So it didn't make give up my other two top tier fastpasses but it also didn't offer me anything but the only remaining tier one ride. Can't figure that one out, but thought I would share my experience. I don't *think* you'll lose your other two choices if you change one.. but you never know with this stuff.

I have 6 day passes for a 7 day trip and have been afraid to add the 7th day to our passes because I didn't want to take a chance of MDE messing up my FP+ choices for the first 6 days. I was going to wait until our 2nd last day to add the extra day to minimize potential damage. Now I think I better add that extra day so I can pick my FP+s for the last day of our trip before they tier all of the parks. Opinions?

It's been a month since I had the, uh, pleasure of navigating MDE, but did you try changing the time of the Character Spot fastpass+ first and then changing the experience? The interface is too clunky to let you change both at once, and it will only offer you alternatives that are available in the time slot you are opening up. At least that was true when I used it, but it's been one of the major complaints all along and I haven't seen any news that it has changed.

Between the new FP+ system only giving you 3 a day, only allowing you to do one park a day and the tiered system can they just call it all off and go back to those trusty machines I love putting my pass into. It's like 99% negative and 1% positive about FP+.Why would anyone want a FP for rides like Maelstrom and shows like Indiana Jones,Fastpasses are for the headliners,Come on Disney!!!!

No I went straight to changing the experience. So that probably explains why it would only give me Maelstrom. Though, I find it hard to believe Journey Into Imagination was all booked up.. but hey.. stranger things have happened.

Saw this coming from a mile away. I remember when they first announced this whole mess it was being broadcast it was going to be a tiered system from the outset until they got a bunch of backlash for that. Looks like they were trying to ease into testing before they dropped the tier bomb back in.

The only 2 things we ever FP at EPCOT are Test Track and Soarin. Now, it is pick one. Want to ride your favorite 2 rides-- well then you are going to spend an hour in line for one of them.

The only 2 things we ever FP at DHS are TSM and RNRC- again now it is pick one. Want to ride Mom's favorite ride and the kid's favorite ride? Well again, you are goign to spend an hour in line for one of them. IF DD is going to ride RNRC can't do single rider because she is too scared of the ride not to have Mom or Dad sitting with her.

Very suprised that Beauty and the Beast is a Tier 1. We usually walk up to that show and grab a seat easily 15 minutes before it starts.

I'm so glad we cancelled our December trip and went in October instead. We were in large part not fans of FP+/MDE in October other than for the first FP of the day, and the only reason we didn't spend the whole trip stressed out and running back and forth around the park for FP+, is that we just used FP- for part of the trip instead. Now, with it looking like that option is going to start being taken away this week, and the tiers being implemented on top of that, it is very disappointing. Of course, the tiers do pretty much solve the problem we had in the parks with FP+ of having to run back and forth across the park because basically you only get one FP+, and the other 2 are things you don't need to bother with your FP+ for. You can just do the other 2 attractions whenever you want and not mess with watching the clock, or being tied to your phone.

To me this is a huge step backwards. For years we have been able to plan our day to get FPs for all the major rides we wanted to ride. We are not superusers. At DHS and EPCOT we usually only do 2 FPs in an entire day. We'd do TSM more than once, but the FPs are always gone by the time that window opens. At EPCOT, we might pull a 2nd FP for Soarin as it is a favorite, but most of the time we don't even do that. I remember the pre-FP days when we had to stand in line for an hour or more for any of the big rides at WDW. What I remember most about those trips was spending a whole lot of time standing in line. I remember how exciting the first trip with FP was, and what a major improvement it is. Actually, once FP was implemented, my family started making trips to WDW more often. Now, it looks like we are back to the pre-FP days with the exception that you can get 1 FP per day. In my opinion there is nothing in the 2nd tier at either park that needs a FP on most days (except for maybe really high crowd times like Christmas and Spring Break).

It is looking less and less like we are going to be making our annual WDW trip next year. We are already starting to look at other vacation options. I'm sure we will return to WDW at some point or if this tiered system changes, but for now, I think we are done for a while. I don't want to go back to the way it used to be.

I agree. My DH & I discussed the same thing this evening. We just returned from a 10 day trip and had nothing but problems with the MB's not working and the FP+ being very inconvenient with how we tour as a family. We had major problems at our resort as well so we are looking to go somewhere else next year as well. I will miss doing our trips but all the problems encountered wasn't worth the money spent. I feel like I need a vacation from our vacation.

Well that just stinks. I'm sorry your trip was so awful.
For awhile now we've been thinking it's time to start checking some other destinations off of our vacation bucket list. But we've always had such a good time at Disney I'd get back and book another trip. I can't say I won't this time, but it doesn't seem likely. I am excited for this trip but I'm also thinking of it as the last one for awhile. It would have to really wow me to make up for all of this nonsense and I just don't see that happening.
I know we'll have fun but for the first time in a long time I am thinking of a big trip to Banff and the Rockies, or an Alaskan cruise and it's exciting.
So I guess it's not a bad thing.

Of course! I'm 62 days out from check-in. :furious:

But it did make one decision easier. I linked the 5 day tickets. Decided that the really good tickets that save the most $$$ for upgrading to APs wasn't worth it. I do not see that Thanksgiving 2014 trip working out with all the tiering of attractions. The lack of value keeps increasing. Maybe things will change by then, but I'm not so sure. I'll take my $12K elsewhere.

With the tiered FP+ talk it just really shows how these parks are seriously lacking in major headliner attractions.Fastpasses were meant to be used for the 2-3 headliner attractions in each park.Having to decide whether I should use a FP+ for the Indy show or Beauty and the Beast is silly,or how about for a character spot or a parade,it doesn't make sense. If I were Disney I would be looking at them needing to add between 1-3 major E Ticket rides to each of their parks because now people are seeing the options they have to pick when choosing FP+ and they realize they're not offering enough, especially if you don't park hop and since they can't get FP+ for a second park it seems Disney wants people to stop buying the park hopper option.Across town you have Universal sitting back and seeing how Disney is all about making people upset and waiting to see how many are going to start spending a bigger chunk of their vacations,if not all of it at Universal. As much as I don't like comparing Disney to Universal you have to look at what they're doing.Universal is tearing down rides that were still popular like Jaws to build new Potter phase 2 which next year will make Universal an even bigger draw, along with new rumored projects like a new Kong ride,at the same time Disney is adding a few props to old rides to give them some attention and offering FP+ to rides like Journey into Imagination which the last couple of times I've ridden it appeared like the ride was closed because there was nobody there to ride it,why you would need a FP for that I don't know.

Oh, I plan on it. Not only to customer service, but to personal emails to those that matter. I'm not happy.
