We did ours last night...sooo pumped we are going to get more today...

Question...we have them layed out flat and they are all still damp. Do you put them in the dryer...or just let them dry normal.

Any special instructions for this???

Do you rubberband the front and back seperate or together?
For example in the above pink and brown shirt- after you have your MM head out, just do a bunch of rubberbanding in a line or in different places?

You fold the shirt all at once, you pull the MM out and you fold/twist the rest of the shirt? Makes sense

we did our first day of tye dye and then we did some more the next day we loved it so much.

The second day we used something from Tulip that is called fashion art resist and put it around the mickey. It really made them come out much better. EVEN tho the first day we were pretty excited...

Soda ash AKA Sodium Carbonate. You can find it at craft stores like Michael's, Joans, hobby lobby etc in smaller packs, also in hardware stores, home depot and wal mart.

Fiber Reactive Dye must be 'fixed' (made permanent) with soda ash on cotton and other cellulose fibers. It's a mild alkali that enables the reaction between the dye and the cellulose fibers at lower temperatures, causing them to "become one", and the reason Fiber Reactive Dye is so permanent. How much you use is normally a function of the amount of water, not the amount of fabric or dye. Roughly 1 oz. per gallon of water is needed when garment dyeing or 1 cup per gallon of water as a pre-soak when tie-dyeing. If you don't use enough, the dye won't yield full strength. A pH of 10.5 is ideal.

Hi! Well I had never used dental floss, I know some people use it and they like it. I use silk thread and it has worked for me pretty good.

Hi! Well I had never used dental floss, I know some people use it and they like it. I use silk thread and it has worked for me pretty good.

Hi Pixie, Is there anything special about the silk thread you use. I know you've mentioned it before and I found some at the fabric store. I just wondered if it is just like regular thread but made out of silk. Could you post what brand you use or a pic maybe? As always, thanks!!

I'm curious if anyone else out there has used the resist. I know that Pixiedust hasn't been a fan in the past. Any other people tried it with success?
