Thank you, Thank you! :cheer2: Just what I have been looking for. Now we will just have to see if the shirts turn out. :laundy:

Not a problem. Only one way to learn right? I got another bottle of the stuff (the big one this time), to give it another go. Don't forget to dye the backside even if you don't do wings again.

So when you use the sponges, how thick do you make it? Do you squirt it on a plate and then use a sponge (I'm thinking make up sponge) to apply it? I will admit to trying to blow dry my resist to get it to dry faster yesterday. I will be more patient this next go around. I need more dye though, and another shirt for myself, and to try to fix DD's.

I use sponges like these.....
the resist should be on pretty thick... the thicker the better. It should be visable (shiny). I squirt it directly onto the fabric then use sponges to distribute.

Hee hee. I had green toes and runs down my legs with the last batch. I was surprised how much easier it was to get off there than on my fingers.

i was worried because last time i got yellow on my legs and fingers and it didn't want to come off, so i was sporting yellow marks for a couple days....
Here is what i dyed last night........

These are all awesome. Now do you use the color resist method on Snow White or did you bleach the tie dyed shirts? I guess what it boils down to is, please share your techniques.

Thank you!!!
Well, i had a blond moment :rolleyes1and i used the cool color resit for the snow white and maleficent(sp?) but didn't really read the package, so i was thinking you could use it for dye's that you don't need to heat to use(like rit)........ but that was wrong:rolleyes:. But it did leave a very light outline of the character so i was able to paint it with bleach after they were dry. For the skull mickey head i used the wax resist to out line and then painted the black where i wanted it.

Twingle, lol- just saw your siggy- I know Dan (Dirty Bunny) doesnt come to the boards much anymore, but he is on facebook if you veer feel like tracking him down! They just found out they are having baby #2!

Thanks for letting me know about the baby - that's wonderful news! I don't do facebook, but thanks for the info in case I decide to join up!

Do you have a template for the skull mickey? My dh would love that.

I just had to share that thanks to this thread, I ordered my white t's for the tie die mickey's from jiffyshirts.com. I ordered a total of 18- 2 for each people (edited to say I mean PERSON- lol) and my total was around $43 with shipping!

The biggest awesome though was the fact that I ordered late Sunday night and they showed up at my house around 2 p.m. today (Tuesday)!!!

Thanks to all who have recommended them!

I will also be ordering my colored shirts from them when we decide on our mickey ears (I'm making each person a mickey ear shirt that relates to them- for example for my BIL I did mickey on a John Deer tractor and for me I did a sailor mickey, and for my DH I did mickey from runaway brain.)

Also wanted to share that I scored a giant tulip kit from Michael's that will do aprx 12-24 shirts and has about 10 or 12 colors in it, including bottles for $15- originally $30 but I used a 50% off coupon! I also got some color resist there for half off!

I'm so excited. My dh is off work this week and we're leaving on Thursday to go to Orlando for a day or two to go to Seaworld and use our Military tickets- then when we get home he's going to help me dye- I'll post pictures as soon as they're done!!!!

They do have an amazingly fast shipping time, and the shirts are really nice and high quality! I love that site! That reminds me that I need to place an order!!

I am waiting for a shipment of dye to come today! Hopefully it hurries and gets here I have a lot to do! We are going out of town this weekend, and need to get some stuff out before then!

OH! I tried the soda ash directly in with the dye for the resist shirts, and it worked AMAZINGLY! The colors are much bolder than normal- and the resist was 100 times easier to get off! :dance3:

39 Days til I am at WDW!!!!

Here are some pics of our shirts we did. We are pleased with them. I would suggest to everyone to be sure to band around the mickey head really well. Some of the black seeped under ours, especially my shirt. Oh well, we still love them!! :woohoo:

Hmmm...going out of town, huh? :rolleyes1

I bought a little cheapie dye kit on clearance, and it also said to put the soda ash directly in the dye. I guess I'll give it a go since it worked for the tie-dye guru-ette!!

haha, YUP- I will be in your hometown!! lol- Unfortunately this is a short trip so no time for tie dye party this weekend :( But I plan on coming to visit you when I come in Aug!!!!

Sounds good! I got some little girls' tank on sale, so I definitely want to try a Tink tank for my niece. This tie-dye thing is an addiction!!! Kinda like DISigns in general.

I have two in the dryer right now, one for my niece and one I used as an example to teach the students how to do a shape. That one didn't turn out so hot. We were at the end of the dye, and I didn't get enough right next to the Mickey Head, so when the blue bled out, there wasn't another color to mix with, so I have a blob. I may try again with that shirt.

I have a child-free Saturday, so my plan is to clean house. If I get all my chores done like a good girl...more shirts!!!!!!

I'll post pics of the new ones when they're dry.
