Tie Dye Instructions for Spiral Mickey Shirt

Hi everyone!
Pixiedust, I have been looking at lots of pics on here and your mickey heads seem to come out so clear comapared to some of the other ones on here. Do you do anything different than the instructions on the first page?

Also, someone mentioned doing normal tie dye shirts and painting on Mickey with bleach. Do you just dip a paint brush in bleach and then trace around it?

Thanks!

Hi, no I don't do anything different, just sewing or basting the ears, pull the string and use rubber bands :confused3

I had used the bleach pen in some of my shirts just to re define the ears, but never just to 'paint it'. I just follow the original stitches line with a bleach pen.

Help a *newbie* at tie dying out here. You only do the stitch around the ears? Then pull the string to tighten it? Or do you do the whole Mickey head? THANKS! :thumbsup2

Alrighty, here are my results. Not TOO bad, but not as good as I was hoping. I went around mine (the blue mickey head) with bleach pen and it messed up the right ear a tad bit, but I think once I get the rhinestones on, it won't be AS noticeable. I hope anyhow. I didn't get pics after the bleach pen. Sorry. My daughter's came out better, I think. It's more defined in person than in the pictures. Her's is the pink/red mickey head.

They look nice! The blue does that to me too, it always goes tru the rubber bands. Thanks for sharing.

I just looked at mine more and more and really was not pleased with it so I did another one. I'll rinse it tonight and see how it turns out. Probably will look like crapola, we'll see :rotfl:

I liked them, Chris. They certainly looked better than my first try :lmao:. Maybe there is a little too much white but that makes them look home made. If they were perfect then they would look like they were just bought in a gift shop.

I've been reading this thread and throughly enjoying it!! Thanks so much to everyone for sharing! I was wondering though if someone could put a list together of the products needed?? I've seen some products mentioned that I don't know what they are... some stuff people add to the water, soda ash, and something else. Anyway, could some of you please list all the products you use while dying these shirts?? We're not going until late November so we have plenty of time to play and mess up!! lol! Thanks so much... and just for the record... I haven't seen a picture of a shirt that I haven't liked yet!! Everyone's looks great...even the first attempts!! :cool1:

Hey, folks! I know it's been a while. Actually, I have a good reason. :goodvibes I'm five months pregnant. So, suffice it to say the bending required to do my tie dye just isn't happening right now. :lmao: Glad to see everyone's still working hard and having fun!

You're welcome Fedex :rotfl: :lmao: poor thing, I know, another 'victim' of the tie dye syndrome :rotfl:

I love the colors! I think it looks great! I did another one and the MM head is slightly off. I also used the other violet/blue/lime combo kit and MAN! ITS DARK! :rotfl::rotfl: Once I get it like I want, I'll post pics soon. I still think my daughter's shirt turned out the best.
