Tidy Cat Breeze Litter Box System

How soon do you scoop it out? Do you wait for it to sufficiently dry out?

This is more info then I ever thought I'd ask someone.

 :rotfl: Isn't that the truth!

Thanks for the feedback, everyone. I think I'm going to skip this one.

BEST. LITTERBOX. EVER.

Litter Robot

Be warned, it is expensive, but it is worth every penny. I have had mine for 2.5 years now, and I have had 5 cats using it - and they range from 8 to 19 lbs. I am going to purchase another one for the basement this year.

Wow! I never heard of this one before. Thanks for posting. I'm impressed by the 18 month warranty!

I have never had a problem, and the one time that I couldn't figure out why it wouldn't move was easily solved by a call to tech support. It turns out I was putting too much litter into it, and it was off balance. I use the big 40 lb bucket of litter from Sam's Club. It works great, and is only $8.54. It lasts quite a while in this system, because it only gets rid of the dirty litter, the clean stuff stays.
Truly a terrific product!

What did you have to do to prove you bought the system? I am not impressed either. The poo just sort of sits there. Hard to get it out without losing a lot of the "litter."

I didn't have to do anything. I just called them (first time to get advice, second time to see if they had any different advice - which they they didn't.) She asked me how much I paid for it. I knew it was a little over $33 - I had bought it at WalMart. I just told her $33 and in less than a week I had a check.

Stop and Shop has the tc breeze litter box system for $28.99 I believe

I have 2 cats, one is 2 1/2 and the other is about 9 months. I put the new box next to the old box for a couple of days and then got rid of the old box. To transition the cats we did put a cup or two of the new pellets in their old litter box. We also had to transfer some poop into the new box to coax them to use it. Our older cat tries to burry her business but the younger cat just walks away. They do use the new system and I must say it works great :thumbsup2 for urine! I am very pleased not having to sweep up litter all the time. However, for the poop it does not cover the smell at all like litter does. It really stinks :sad2: and you know right away after they have done their business. It needs to be scooped and flushed immediately as it will stink up your entire place. I don't know if they would really use it if we go away for the weekend and there is poop sitting there for a couple of days. I can see them finding other places to go to the bathroom. It is a great concept, but this needs to be worked on. My cats are very particular about things and we will be going away next weekend. We'll see how they do. My husband rates it a 3 out of 5 for the smell factor.

Ugh! Thanks Angie. Is this the same situation with the one cat who DOES cover? If the poop is entirely buried, does it still smell as badly? What if you added another half bag of the pellets in?

As for the younger cat just walks away, that's my situation NOW with the litter I am using. Once she's used it a couple times, she won't cover anymore. And I have to run in and cover for her, or it will stink up the whole place. :snooty:

If the pellets are like the Feline Pine and Yesterday's News, I may as well forget it. My Missy pee'd in the bathtub when I tried using those...
I hope Missy is your cat. :)

I tried this and didn't like it at all. This is not a clumping system. The pellets are large and when you remove the waste you remove lots of the pellets too. It does nothing to stop solid waste odor. I thought the pee pee pad idea was very good, but overall it was a bad experience.
Perhaps your cat would like it better than you... ;)

This is also what we have, however our 2 "older" cats won't use it. If they would all use it I could buy another one and never scoop litter again.

I want to try this but I am worrying about how it controls the solid odor also. Right now I have a covered litter box with feline pine, and it has no smell at all, but my cats stick their heads out of the door and try and scratch invisible litter for a 1 ft. radius of the litter box. Anyone have cats that do this? how do they react with an open litter box?

T&B, you really shouldn't be asking about such private habits of other posters . ;) :lmao:

Maybe you should try this if your cat is making you do all the work. It might at least make it easier.

I looked into this. There are even YouTube videos on this. You gotta love YouTube & what people will shoot videos of. There are also videos of the automated Litter Robot. (Also of the Furminator pet brush -which I finally bought a couple of weeks ago. :thumbsup2 )

But according to Amazon reviews of those rollover boxes, if the cat misses the litter, there is a major cleanup inside the sides. :scared: No, I'll just stick to running after & scooping for my cat instead.

I'm sorry I didn't check this site sooner to see if anyone replied to my post. We learned that our one cat that didn't cover had something wrong with her and we had to treat her with medications, etc. She is learning to cover it because our other cat covers her business. It doesn't smell as much anymore because she has gotten over her illness. It does still smell, but not nearly as bad as when I posted this. For the cat that covers it, it is noticeable if you go into that room shortly after she's done her business. But it isn't nearly as bad. I think the one cat was so bad because she was sick. We did leave our 2 cats home for a weekend not that long ago and they did fine with the boxes. We do have 2 boxes, but they each use both of them. I would highly recommend this product. It is so nice::yes:: not having litter all over the place!

I took my kitty to the vet about a month ago. As i had already suspected, she has a fish allergy. Most cats do, as fish is not indigenous to their natural diets. Cats don't go into the water to fish for their meals.

I changed out all her cat food, which used to be Purina, and the over-the-top stinky smell is almost all gone. :cool1: It's just a normal cat poo smell now. Whew!

I also bought some Tidy Cat deodorizer. I wanted to keep to the same brand as the litter she uses, as she is extremely fussy with her litter. That has helped too with the smell. She actually covers more often now. :)

Thanks for your input about the deodorizer. I never thought about that. I'll have to try it.

This system is incredible! I was hoping for slightly better odor control, but it's still much better than any litter. We use one pad a week for two cats, and change the pellets after three weeks or so.

Our cats are 2 and 5 years, we've had them for about three months. Two of those have been using the Breeze system. We switched because I could not stand the litter tracking through the house any longer. Scooping clumps all day long (to keep that 'cat box smell' at bay) was also an issue, as I am a stay at home mom of two, both still in diapers. My day revolved around cleaning pee and poo.

We put the pellets on top of the old litter. Niether cat went number 2 for three days. The next morning was trash pick-up, so I ditched the old box and replaced it with the Breeze. I scooped a bit of the old litter on top of the pellets in the Breeze box to encourage them to use it (the old litter sifted through onto the pad within a day or two. They didn't use it for number 2 for a couple more days, but since then it's been great! I do find a random pellet in places I'd prefer not to (bedrooms!) but our 2 yr-old male cat likes to bat them around when one occasionally gets thrown out of the box. My 1 yr-old likes the sound the pellets make (significantly noisier than clay litter) and tries to use the scoop like a sand shovel if we let her near the box, so we still have to section off the kitchen with a baby gate.

I have added a couple other products for odor control because I have zero tolerance for a smelly cat box. I sprinkle Tidy Cats litter powder on top of the cat pad each week when I put a new one in. My husband forgot to take the garbage out one morning (with a spent cat pad in it) and it surprisingly left no funky smell in the house. The pads work wonders for odor control. The poo has to set in the box for a while to keep it from getting the pellets messy. I've read you're supposed to wait at least 10 minutes. I scoop out any messy pellets along with the poo to help control the odor. My only complaints: the pellets stick to the poo and some have to to be disposed of so I can't flush it like I'd hoped, and the odor from number 2 is a problem. It lingers on the pellets. I was changing the pellets (I use 1 1/2 bags because my cats bury) once a week, and that was getting a bit pricey. I found Citrus Magic (a spray) which works really well for this. I spray the pellets well, and no more poo odor. Our box is unfortunately in the kitchen, but since I've been spraying the pellets, the cat box kind of works like an air freshener- the pellets let off the smell of the spray all day, with no gross odors.

Our local Target sells a bag of pads for about $4.50; the pellets are about $6.50 a bag. The Tidy Cats Powder (also Target) is under $3 and has lasted us two months with a third of the can left, but the Citrus Magic (at Walgreens) is about $5 and lasts us maybe a month.

The Breeze system, with the powder and spray, averages about $23 a month for us, and I scoop once a day with no tracking. We were spending about $38 a month with Tidy Cats clumping litter, Tidy Cats litter powder, and generic box liners. I was scooping 6-7 times a day and there was litter throughout the whole house. The start up for the Breeze did cost us more than we spent to start a clumping litter cat box ($36 for the Breeze, $24 for the normal box set up).

I have the Breeze with two cats, and for the most part I love it. I live in an apartment and the only place to put the litterbox is in the kitchen. My two little monsters would kick the litter everywhere. It's alos hard to clean a traditional litterbox because I don't have a hose or anyway to do it.

I was bad and just put the new litterbox where the old oen had been and they've transitioned with no problem. I do have to put in three bags of the pellets or there isn't enough for the one cat, but since you only have to change it once a month the cost equals out about the same. The one caveat is to make sure you keep an eye on the pad. If you let it go too long it's really gross because it won't absorb it all and the ammonia smell is awful. But if you keep up with the pad it's really not so bad. It's also really easy to clean with a Clorox wipe because you just dump the old litter, there's no clumps to stick to the box!
