Tickets will soon expire but I was able to make a park reservation

Hi all! Looking for some advice!
My family has 3-day park hopper tickets that are going to expire mid December 2021 (we bought them back before Covid). We live in Northern California so we are unable to visit the ticket booth in person and apply the value of our soon-to-be expired tickets to new tickets. But I’m curious about park reservations- I was able to go on the website and make park reservations for our planned travel dates in February 2022, even though our tickets expire in one month. It went through and was successful. Does anybody know what will happen when we show up to Disneyland in February with park reservations, but with expired tickets? Thanks in advance!

Disneyland extended ticket expiration during the shutdown. Tickets which were bought before the shutdown and had an expiry date of December 30th, 2021 were extended to December 30th 2022

Our tickets were supposed to expire on Jan 12 2021 but were extended to Dec 16 2021 due to covid. But we never used them and would like to visit Feb 2022.

Our tickets are the same as yours and we're going in about a week, I hope it works out for you!

If it's true that you can still make park reservations with expired tickets, I"M GOING TO BE TICKED!!! We were in the same boat. I bought tickets in Feb, 2020 (through UT) and tried to use them twice for trips that never happened due to the extended closure. These tickets were extended to Dec 16, 2021 by Disney. However, the re-re-booked trip is for March 2022. I was told by both UT and DL that the only way to roll the value of the tickets over at the gates of DL. They also confirmed my fears that I was in a Catch-22 because I would not be allowed to make park reservations without tickets that were valid for our trip dates. So I was advised that my only real option was to purchase a SECOND set of tickets in order to be able to make the park reservations when our 120 day window opened, and then request a refund of the original tickets... but given the age of the tickets are beyond the normal refund window our request may be denied by Disney. I didn't request a refund sooner because I was told not to worry over the phone that Disney would roll over the value of the tickets... but wasn't told that it could only be done in-person at Disneyland SO, I purchased a second set of tickets and requested a refund and am waiting to hear about Disney's decision. This is likely to be a "one time" trip as being in the Midwest it's easier to go to WDW. If we're stuck with the first set of tickets, I don't know what we're going to do with them.

So, I hope that what the OP sees isn't a system glitch and that it works for them. It's good to hear that others may not face the frigging logistical nightmare that our "fun" Spring Break 2020 DL trip has turned into. For me, the monkey wrench in the system is Disney's decision to cling to the reservation system.

Download the DL app to your phone and see if you can link the tickets. Then use the chat function to find out the expiry of your tickets. I bought mine in 2019 for a trip in 2020, which didn't happen, and last week found out the expiry has been pushed to December 2022.

Based on your report, I called DL this morning to see if they had quietly re-extended the tickets that we had purchased in Feb 2020 beyond the initial extension date of Dec 16, 2021 and was told that they are still set to expire on that date.

I did the same, but through the chat feature. Tickets are still set to expire in December. But fortunately, my best friend left for Disneyland yesterday, so I gave her our tickets and she is going to the ticket booth on my behalf to exchange the tickets and pay the difference since ticket prices were raised. If it wasn’t for her, I don’t know what we would have done. I asked the CM in the chat feature and she said the ONLY way to apply the value of expired tickets to new ones is to visit the ticket booth in person. I find that pretty ridiculous.

I double checked with the CM through the chat and he said there must be a “glitch in the system” which allowed me to make future reservations with expired tickets. Hope they fix this soon!

Here's the other ironic thing... in September I flew in and out of the Orange County Airport, but I was on business and traveling with others. I was around 10 miles from DL, but didn't have my own transportation to get to the park to try an in-person exchange. My workdays also were long and didn't allow for me to slip away from Long Beach via Uber to try a swap. I also didn't know at the time that the in-person option was the ONLY option that I had to try and use these tickets in March. So close, and yet so far!

Hopefully Disney will allow a 3rd party to make the exchange. I thought one of the reasons that Disney only does this in-person is to try and prevent the resale of tickets to others and they want to verify that the original owner is the one making the swap.

I’m going next month on the 13th-16th (unless something goes wrong lol). If you’re out of options feel free to pm me and we can discuss the possibility of me going to the ticket booths then to apply to the value of your unused tickets toward new tickets (you could send them to me electronically).

That is so kind of you! I appreciate the offer but fortunately my friend just got back from Disneyland and was able to upgrade our unused tickets to new ones with a 2023 expiration date. Phew!

Have a wonderful trip in December! Nothing like Disneyland during the holidays!
