CheshireFigment...1st,thanks for all the detail in the tickets pages....I have been reading them for WAY too long:rotfl2: and I would like to know if I have this right.....
-Say I purchase tickets thru Orbitz at a cost of 341.87 for a 5 day hopper...
-Go to WDW, enter a major park, and then go to guest service window-and upgrade my ticket to a 7 day hopper...
- I would then need to pay the difference between the GATE price of a 5 day hopper (397.25) and GATE price of a 7 day hopper (418.55)
- this difference is in GATE price, not the price I actually paid thru Orbitz, right?
-SO I would pay $21 to upgrade to another 2 days in the parks?
- I just need verification that this is correct.....b/c if I've got it right...then I could save 76.68 on my ticket...:yay:

Yes,this is how it works. I did not check any of your figures for accuracy. Undercover Tourist with the Mousesavers discount has that ticket for the same price. They have free shipping and also allow returns (within certain parameters of course). They are highly recommended by DISers, including me. So you might consider them as well or at least make sure Orbitz doesn't have any extra charges, etc.

1- Yes.
2- Yes.
3- $21.30, with tax, yes.
4- Yes.

Amazing. thanks for the replies!:thumbsup2
side question....I am thinking also that this would work if upgrading to a regular AP from this ticket choice.... and the same concept works?

Yes. I will be doing that myself in April and have done it before. Just use the gate price of the AP you are buying.

one more question:rotfl: I know there is chatter about all the fp+ stuff everywhere right now..... in our past 2 trips, I know it's been available, but we never really used it. We tend to go at off times, etc. However we did use paper fp's once or twice our last trip, and now I see those are all gone.:sad1:
FWIW, I have read that using a 3rd party, like Orbitz is fine in general, but they provide vouchers, which you exchange for a ticket when you arrive.(no problem) but this precludes all the fp+ planning...... what do you think of this? I know slightly OT from OP, but I think it is part of the '3rd party ticket' question in general....
....AND.... say I buy a ticket from Orbitz (voucher) and I don't use it at all this upcoming trip, and I want to save it for another vacation..... can I just save that voucher? Does it stay viable indefinitely,as long as it's unused?
thanks....:upsidedow

1. Your voucher is for a standard ticket in which case the ticket you redeem the voucher for is good indefinitely until used. Such a ticket is bridgable after some usage.

1a. Your voucher is for a standard ticket but if you don't redeem the voucher soon, it is possible although improbable that you may have to pay the difference between the price of the ticket at the time the voucher was issued and the price of the ticket when you redeem the voucher.

2. Your voucher is for a promotional ticket that may have a use-by date in which case the ticket or unredeemed voucher expires on that date. However it is probable that the unredeemed voucher or unused ticket will be honored for some value approximately or a little less than what you paid, towards the purchase of a new ticket of one or more designated kinds. If the voucher has not expired and is redeemable only for the intended kind of ticket, that ticket is not upgradable let alone bridgable.

ok, so say I bought 4 Orbitz tickets (vouchers) but ended up only needing 3....I should exchange all the vouchers for the actual tickets at once? And just put the unused ticket away for another trip?(not using it)
I could then use it for a trip next year(/)
I would assume,in my previous 'add a day' scenario, I could not do anything further with this unused ticket at a later trip date....right? like adding a day or two onto it.....I would just use it as it was bought...

1- Yes.
2- Yes.
3- Yes.
4- Incorrect. You could upgrade that ticket (after using it one time to enter a theme park) to
add days or other assets (or upgrade to an AP.)

Thank you:thumbsup2 I would be assuming,of course that this option would still be available at that later date....

Yup.

That line can be used for every bit of info you can find about WDW. ;)

If I only have one day tickets, could I still do this? Use the ticket to get into the park and then go to guest services and add days? The tickets are from Disney and they are on our account. I do not have them physically.

Yes. But you need to do it that day to be safe, not decide the next day than you want to do it. This is related to some more recent rules about when you can upgrade tickets. Not knowing where your one day ticket came from, or how those upgrade windows may/may not be affected by the MDE linking of tickets to your account, it is safest if you just do it on the same day that you use the ticket.

You are absolutely right on all of this, but if the OP really wanted to dip into the savings, they'd go to Orbitz via an Ebates link and save up to 10% off that price on top of it.

So a ticket that would be $341.87 with 10% off would be;

$341.87 - $34.18 = $307.69

The ONLY downside to getting Orbitz tickets is they're strictly WILL CALL- meaning you can't link them to your MDE app and MB before you arrive, so no pre-planning for FP+. So essentially you have to decide if the xxx amount of money is worth not picking fp+ rides ahead of time or not.

I thought people were using their will call numbers to put in MDE. I know people on the DVC boards were mentioning doing that when they purchased will call tickets through DVC Member Services. I assume orbitz has to give you those #s to claim the tickets at Disney, so I would try it anyway (I never purchased will call tickets personally).

When I attempted to do this in October, it didn't work. It might have been just me, I can be a little dopey at times. :confused3

How about tickets purchased at Shades of Green. Can they be upgraded using the bridging pricing?

i recently purchased tickets through UT, and asked about bridging. The rep told me disney is changing all their rules, and this will no longer work.

take it for what it's worth.
