Tickets that expired dec 2031 now not valid

I have 4-10 day PH canadian resident non-expiry tix that I purchased in spring 2017. And they have always had the expiry date of Dec 31, 2030 in MDE. And still have that date yesterday and today when I checked. The scary part is…my receipt does not say non-expiry anywhere….so now I fully expect Disney to come for them at some point….
Yeah, I’m still pretty confused. Maybe my email was a glitch of sorts? The email I got says my tickets expiring in 2030 are now only valid until sept 2021 and it’s reflected in my acct. but even today it’s still showing as 2030? Not sure if it will change to 2021 or not? Weird I got the email but they didn’t physically change on the app. I’m not complaining and I hope it stays that way lol (I got my tix years ago back when they said air miles would expire so we used ours to buy wdw tickets knowing full well we would eventually go)

Ticket question. If I have 5 day Cdn Flex tickets that will be expired when I want to go, can I purchase say a 4 day base ticket or do I have to get a 5 day base like what I had purchased origianlly. I am assuming that a 4 day ticket will be more expensive than what I will have as a credit.

Thoughts, experience?

I had to go and check on my non-expiring tickets I bought from AM in 2018 (I think). So far the expiry is 2030. You can bet your booty that I will be checking on the dates in the coming months. If they change those dates, I have a very strong feeling that the tickets will go unused. As much as we want to go to Disney again, we also will need to make it as cost effective for us - hence why I purchased the non-expiring tickets.

once it's expired it becomes a credit as such that you can use on any other ticket media. Just be sure to take a screenshot of what you currently have, figure out it's value and keep it safe since I've heard people mention that they disappear from your MDE account. NOT the value, just your proof that you had tickets!

If I may ask, what are you planning on doing with the $$ that are now tied up in Disney tickets? I feel the same as you and really don't think I want to return to Disney if they don't value us as customers.

So they ultimately did refund me the cost of the tickets in the end. I actually felt sort of bad for the agent as I was upset and maybe a bit emotional (although I was still very polite.) I did make it clear that it seemed unethical for Disney to change expiry dates to a date 4 weeks away when the US border is still closed to Canadian travelers and doing so meant that people who booked park days for future trips were so impacted. They did say that they were doing the refund as an "exception." Maybe if you get the right agent they might do the same for you.

Right - but the value has increased so much of a 10 day PH that a credit won’t help me. Unless they credit the value of a 10 day PH at the time of conversion. Otherwise, great. It’s now the equivalent of a 3 day PH. Not exactly what I signed up for.

Thanks, done and printed and sitting with my exchange vouchers. I think I'll print off my calculation for what I think they should be worth as well.

When I balked at paying the $800 to extend the three I did extend they offered me an option to decrease the numbers of days .. don’t know if that’s changed too but that was an option at that time

Unfortunately with the arrival of the ability to see the original value of the tickets we get royally dinged! It's beyond frustrating that's for sure and as Hook said

I did not get an email. I got no notification. And as far as I can see, no change yet in tickets. So, I’m not sure if this thread even applies to the set of tix I have.

edit: I don’t mean to jump into this thread if it doesn’t apply - my purpose is trying to figure out if my tix are/will be included. Just info gathering. Because it’s unclear to me from this thread which tix are involved and which aren’t.

Don't forget the genie+ or the extra for certain rides since those new tickets won't come with free fast passes!

I still haven’t received any email, no notification either. Yet my tickets are now showing the Sept.2021 expiry. I wonder if it depends when they were purchased - in my case I had redeemed my hard earned AirMiles for all four 7-day tickets 😢

I have Airmiles Canadian discount Flex date 5 day base tickets purchased in Dec 2019. They were in my MDE with Fastpasses booked when the world went Covid. They originally had an expiration date of Dec 31,2020. When the World closed down the expiry date in MDE changed to 2030. I thought because I had fastpasses booked that they were treated differently than some others who had their tickets extended to Sept 26,2021. Then... all this happened and now they expire in a month.

I believe most of the tickets which are expiring next month are the Canadian discount tickets (Airmiles or otherwise purchased) that were originally due to expire Dec 2020. It would appear that some of the non-expiry tickets from earlier in the nineteen teens have been spared. Just keep taking screen shots on a regular basis of the tickets in your MDE to be on the safe side.

Ah ok, thanks for this post. I think the title of the thread threw me since the tix I have have always been dec 2030 expiry. I guess it made sense for them to just push off the expiry for the 2020 tix to some random date far in the future and then change them to something much closer once (in theory) things settled down (they haven’t). Doesn’t mean I agree. At all. Sorry this happened to people!!

I guess when @ilovetotravel1977 said their 90s non-expiry tix are now 2030 - that’s a closer example to my tix….

I’m sorry I didn’t know who all’s tickets were affected, just wanted to give ppl a heads up.
I wonder if emails were only sent to those with park reservations? All i know this am is have no park reservations or plans at all anymore. ( the 3 tickets I paid to extend should be safe but I guess because I’m the adult and in control of the MDE acct maybe ?)
My DVC stay isn’t even there I’m assuming that’s a glitch …
Even if our border was open I wouldn’t have such negative feelings but technically with a travel bank out of Syracuse , we can’t even go at this point

Yeah, fair enough - I’m not holding you to knowing 😉 lol the heads up is valuable! I can keep my eye on it.

sorry it became a mess for you. I hope it gets sorted in a satisfactory way.

I got the email as well. My tickets were just sitting in my MDE.

gosh, i really don’t have the mental focus to figure this all out right now, but it sounds like an absolute nightmare.

i have 2 tickets tucked away that i got with air miles a few years ago (2018? earlier?). i believe it was the final of the non-expiring tickets—the green cards? i have never linked the cards online, so no emails or contact from disney about a change. but it sounds like people with these same tickets are seeing the new expiry date?

i don’t think i’ll be dealing with the ticket value headache until we’re in a position to travel again. but i’ll still try to follow along and hope that disney makes it right with the original terms of these tickets.

ed it: just looked through my email to find my air miles redemption info. i spent 6500 air miles on 2 7-day adult base tickets. whoa how things have changed!!

This will require a bit of detective work on your part BUT it is doable! It seems the search feature on the boards is on the fritz but i KNOW that at some point during that time period i made a post that included a screenshot from the Disney website proper showing the wording "the best part is that they never expire" I tried searching last night but gave up -- you'll need to go back and find the threads about the CDN resident discounts and then search for posts around the date of your receipt? Might be worth your effort to have proof of what you bought?
