Tickets that expired dec 2031 now not valid

Not Canadian but the post caught my eye because we also have non expiring tickets left from a trip 5 years ago. I went into MDE earlier this week and noticed the same expiration date listed above on our 'non expiring' tickets for our entire family. Very nervous. We won't be traveling to WDW for another year & are also DVC members. Wondering if these expired tickets will just sit in our account until we can upgrade....IF we upgrade. Wishing you guys the best in this. I'll be following along.

After thinking about this for a bit I have come to realize this is probably Disney wanting to clean up their accounting books. These tickets are a huge liability on the parks books and an easy one for them to clear up. If they want to do that we should be given more notice before they make an arbitrary change like this. Give us a year to use the tickets (not just one month). We're not even "technically" allowed to travel across the border yet.

I actually almost posted this but deleted it. I definitely think it's an effort to clean up the books. These tickets are probably considered a liability on the balance sheet. My thought is that they've seen an increasing number of cancellations due to the variant and their poor decisions recently. They don't want to post a loss during their 'magical' celebration. JMHO.

Exactly what I just told my husband about travel from Canada for those in this thread.

Those of us who can, lets get on the phone/email and complain about this. Spread the word. Disney has been known to do these things and then backtrack when it's unpopular.

Exactly the highlighted part. I'm on hold now and writing an email as well. A March break trip with no park reservations... not going to happen. I think at this point I'd prefer the refund and just end my WDW obsession. Once again the NEW Disney makes the least customer-centric decision possible.

Not ticket related, but I just canceled our Nov/Dec trip and bumped it out the same week, less one night, for 2022. Bright side is by eliminating one night, I now owe only $78US at check in versus $300US! I'll need all of that money for Gene+ and LL$!

I was pleased that I was able to modify my reservation through MDE. Maybe because I had used WDW gift cards so it was easier for them to just transfer the booking?

WHOA - While we no longer have any of these tickets, I have friends who are still waiting to use these tickets that we all bought years ago - sold at the time with no expiry date. That is terrible that they would just change the terms like that!!

So my phone ran out of battery before anyone picked up --- just short of 2 hours on hold. I've sent my email but really I think it's maybe a good time to say that we're done with Disney. Honestly it's hard to find a better example of a company saying to customers we don't honour our agreements and don't care a whit about you as customer as this - it almost feels hostile that they offer no solution at all (refund/upgrade by phone) since you can only fix it onsite and well duh ... due to the pandemic Canadian travel to US is not fully open yet --- so that means anyone with these tickets can't book a park reservation.

Ran by the idea of booking UO instead (since our flights are booked) --- he seems pretty enthused so I think I'll book that instead.

I just emailed Disney about it. I know it won’t do anything but I need them to know how awful it is to change our NON EXPIRY tickets to expiring in September, when Canadians can’t even travel there (well, without lots of hoops). Couldn’t even give us until the end of next year once we can travel again? Will see what they say but I imagine nothing much.

Called again and it was answered quickly but I'm currently back on hold.... spoke with someone initially and they transferred me.... and it said 10 minute wait ---- but put me back in the on-hold version of purgatory.... for way more than an hour now at this point.... (thankfully DH has a headset for the land line that means I can outwait them....this time.)

This is so stupid and useless --- and unnecessary. If anyone thought WDW gave even the slightest casual care about their customers.... you can be sure they DO NOT and take this as example -- maybe today it's Canadians but someday it will be you. Hopefully you won't experience this but if you do recognize they had many choices at this point --- all but only one said that messing up their Canadian customers was the best option. Be clear non-Canadians this may not be your problem today but if they think a closed border isn't enough to stop messing over Canadians then be sure when your problem comes they won't care either.

If anyone answers I'm going to hang on and then politely ask they fix the issue or refund, if they won't I will ask to speak to someone who can fix it before sharing the experience widely and frankly. It's so appalling it's hard to explain.

Exactly my thoughts. It's not a matter of if but rather...when.

So speaking to someone --- I really think Disney is willing to sever a long standing relationship (yearly since 1998) to save some coin. Tragic and weirdly odd but I honestly think this is the hill they want to stand on... The refunded the tickets but not the shipping fee so I said yeah... give me the $25 back. Still on hold for that.

So...UO March break here we come. We'll NEVER go to wdw again or pay for anything from them again. Will ensure going forward friends understand how awful this has been.

You'll need to change your Disboards name now, lol.

I’m confused. Were these tickets non expiring initially ? Or was the 2030 date added during the pandemic? And in the case of @Tammylynn33 , hadn’t you already paid to update them to date specific tickets in December? It’s a new product that you already paid hundreds to update. How the heck do they think they can go change those now ?

I would highly recommend not bothering with calling or emailing complaints. Hit their social media channels with this one.. and the theme parks blogs and sites with big followings. Just arbitrarily changing a date on a pre sold product is really freaking slimy and if that’s the case hit them where it hurts ..in the court of public opinion. That’s where you will get a response.
