Tickets question

I'm a little confused about tickets and what happens to them especially with regard to Fast Pass.

We are purchasing 5 or 6 day park hoppers. Do we get one ticket for the whole time, and that ticket has to be on our person the entire time we are in the park? We need every ticket for each person to get a FP, right? If I have my ticket and the kids tickets all in a lanyard, and it breaks and falls off on the first day, am I out of luck?

I like to keep things safely tucked away in the safe in the hotel, because if I don't it gets lost. I'm really scared to walk around all day with $800+ worth of tickets.

Thanks for all the help! I'd be lost without this board.

Unfortunately yes, that's the way it works. You will be issued a cardstock ticket and that will be your ticket for the duration of your stay. That is also your ticket to get FP's - each person's ticket is needed to get a FP. As you mentioned, that certainly means you have to be careful about not losing it. I bring a small backpack with me and keep my wallet with my AP in it at all times. I would NOT suggest a lanyard because as you mentioned, and as I've read on these boards, you can lose the card-holding part off of the string and then you are absolutely out of luck! I do think it is a good idea to hold onto your kids' tickets for them. I'd keep them in your wallet in a backpack or purse. Yes, it's a little harder to dig them out than if they were on a lanyard, but they are more secure.

I have also heard of people taking digital pictures of their tickets and the bar codes in case anything were to happen, just to prove that their tickets were purchased. I'm not sure if that is guaranteed to resolve the issue of lost tickets, but it is certainly better than having no information to show CM's at all.

Before I go on a trip I scan the backs of all our tickets and print out a copy as well as email the file to myself. That way if I lose the tickets Disney can deactivate them and issue new ones.

They do not have to do this but when people ask politely they tend to bend over backward to help.

When we picked up our tickets in May, the lady at the ticket booth made me put everybody's names on them right then and there. She then recorded that information on the computer and said that would be helpful if we lost our tickets. I've heard that since then they have started printing the tickets with the names on them originally. So, I would guess that they possibly could be replaced if lost.

I kept ours in one of the little lanyard pouches, but stored it in the front zip pocket of my purse for safekeeping.

Yes, you are expected to be responsible for your tickets. You need them to get in the parks and to use them for your FPs.

I suggest quite often on these boards NOT to wear your tickets in a pouch on your lanyard in case it falls/breaks off. Why hang $200 are your neck?

Place them in a safe place where you feel comfortable with them all day long.

However this is not taking place 100% of the time. Many tickets still have no name on them. So people shouldn't go expecting that thier tickets will be trackable and easily retruned back to them.

Putting them in something bigger is better, because it's hard to loose a large item. But it's a trade off, do you want to carry big items around so you don't loose the valuables inside, or travel light and run the risk the PHs fall out of your pants pocket?

Digital cameras come in handy. Take a picture of your parking spot, back of tickets, photopass, etc. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the tips! I will definitely scan them and/or take pictures before we head out. And as for in the parks, the tickets stay in a bag.

Can anyone recommend what size/type of bag works best? I don't want to be wedging a huge backpack in with me on Space Mountain!

I use a small, drawstring athletic backpack. All I keep in it is usually a bottle of water, my wallet, my phone, sunscreen, and chapstick (crucial!) It goes on every ride with me and even fits into the small pouches on Indy, Big Thunder, and Screamin' that they provide for your loose items.

A fanny pack works well, positioned around in front instead of in back. DW has a Disney one with a Mickey Mouse on the front with two zipper pouches. She can put everything she needs in it for a day trip to DLR and it doesn't have to come off for rides or anything.

Just a word of caution about a fanny pack. I used one on our trip last week and somehow I had it on when I got on Big Thunder Railroad (I know because I gave my daughter a drink of water out of the waterbottle in the pack) but when I got off and started walking away from the ride it had somehow come off. It was a fairly strong clip on it but I lost it anyway and never saw it again. They checked all the trains and lost and found but it just disappeared. Luckily I DIDN'T have our tickets in there; I kept them in a pocked in my shorts for the whole trip. It was a little unnverving having five 4 day park hoppers in my pockets all the time knowing that if I lost them I would be out of luck and out of some pretty big money.

When we go to DLR, dh carries the snack backpack and I carry a messenger style purse/bag across the front of me with a small zippered wallet that holds all our tickets. That way it is right in front of me and easy to get to, and also feels secure. I don't even have to take it off for most rides.

That's how I carried all my tickets too. In fact, this year was the first year everyone carried their own tickets...my kids are 20, 24, and 27! When I gave them their tickets, I said, "Don't lose these!" I couldn't help it.

Ugh...I just typed up this whole long reply and then it didn't go through...darn...anyways I also wear a messenger type bag across my body, and when I'm just walking around the park I keep my left hand resting on it constantly. When we get on rides, it is long enough to stay strapped across me but I will tuck the purse in between my legs so even if for some reason the strap comes undone, the purse is still secure. :goodvibes

Are you my mother? :magnify:

Still to this day, "Don't lose this," as we went a theatre, airplane, whatnot...

I carry a messenger type bag too. Big enough to hold everything but small enough I don't have to take it off on rides.
