I know....more questions- I am having my usual decision meltdown moment....:rotfl2: I have to decide for sure how to handle this and my best option, can't find much exact info using search...
I currently have 5 day hoppers from UT.
I am visiting in Nov. for a week- was going to use them then. Then, decided on an extra trip with family in January for 4-5 days. So my choices are buy another round of tickets- OR- Upgrade at Park with No expire option (but what is the current cost to do that?)
-OR- just go ahead an Upgrade at the park to an AP for myself and DS. (I may squeak in another visit before they expire too) My question is cost-
Here are my numbers-
for one pass, I paid 342.00(approx)
Gate price of that ticket is 387.66 with tax.
Gate price for an AP is 675.00 with tax.
So if I upgrade my 5 day hopper pass- I will be charged the difference between the GP of this (387.66) and the cost of AP (675)
which leaves me to pay an extra 288.00 oop for my ticket.
Which gives me an overall cost of 629.00 flat out for an AP.
***Is this correct? Did I get this right?:teacher:
So original cost per day for my 5 day PH was 68.40 per day.
If I get AP, and visit for-12 days (possibly more) cost per day drops quite a bit.
**On the other hand, I don't know the cost of NE, but say I want to upgrade my pass to a WPM 10 day NE, what is the gate cost of that?
*also- when calculating, do I need to pay the gate taxes on an upgrade,or is that considered paid already with the purchase of my original pass from UT?
I am looking for updated numbers, since everything I'm reading says that the burden is on me to know what I should owe when I upgrade.
Thank You!:cool1:

1. The upgrade will cost the price between the day-of gate price of the ticket that you HAVE vs. the day-of gate price of the ticket that you WANT.
2. Yup.
3. I'm not checking your exact numbers but... The upgrade will cost the price between the day-of gate price of the ticket that you HAVE vs.the day-of gate price of the ticket that you WANT.

4. The tax will be only on the new DIFFERENCE PRICE.

NOTE: Be sure to actually USE your current tickets at least one time to enter a theme park BEFORE upgrading.

Sorry to jump on your thread but you can upgrade a ticket to AP?
So I have a package with an 8 day hopper I can upgrade that to a AP?
How do I find out how much that would cost.

Than you OPoster for this post!

1. Absolutely.

Thanks for the link, but I am a little off with my math,
I am coming up with $394 for and adult 8 day park hopper via WDW website, so that would leave me $240 to upgrade, is that right?

Just subtract the Disney price of the ticket that you HAVE from the Disney price of the ticket that you WANT, and pay that price for the upgrade. (Plus 6.5% tax on that difference price.)

This is true after you use your current ticket at least one time at a theme park.

From the Disneyworld website. Price includes tax.
AP: https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/passes/annual-pass/purchase/
8-day PH: https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/tickets/

AP $675.21
8-day PH $419.61
Upgrade cost: $255.60 including 6.5% tax

Use your original ticket first at a theme park before doing your upgrade. Go to Guest Relations at the parks or DTD for the upgrade transaction.

thanks for that link to prices they are WAY different than what I had found!

Just checking.... in my OP, I was considering an AP,etc etc. Wel plans changed, and I now need to Upgrade my days from a 5 day hopper to a 10 day hopper. I am just checking, are the prices noted still accurate? Are 'gate prices' the same as online sales price at disney.com itself? I thought the actual gate cost was more than online.... as noted, I need to know the exact amount I will owe, right? right now on the site I see a 5 day hopper pass is 387.66- and a 10 day is 440.91. that's a difference of 53.25 I will pay there, correct?

5. I will pay there,correct?

1. I can tell you that there has not been a ticket price increase since Feb. 2014.

2. Yes.

3. That has never been the case at WDW.

4. Yup.

5. That is exactly correct, to the penny (including tax.)

NOTE: Be sure to USE your current tickets to go into a theme park at least one time BEFORE
you do the upgrade.
