Question on tickets... Is it true if I purchase 4 days worth of tickets and then decide that I want to add 2 more days once we are there, I only need to pay the difference between the 4 days and 6 days? I do not need to purchase another 2 day pass (which is more money). We still haven't decided how many park days we want to do.

Thanks for your help!

That is correct. You can upgrade your tickets by only paying the difference as long as it is not after the end of your last ticket day. You can do this at any Guest Services location or ticket window.

Thank you! And I can use Disney giftcards to pay for the upgrade right?

My big suggestion when doing upgrades is to always know what you are supposed to pay upfront. On my last trip, I modified our tickets and got 3 different answers from 3 different CM's. One CM said I couldn't modify my tickets, the second quoted me a price that was too high.

Second, even though your magicbands are linked, if you want to modify tickets on them, then you physically have to have all the bands at GS to modify them.

Third, your transaction might be quick, or it might be very slow. Try to find a slow time of day to do your modification. DO NOT modify them first thing in the morning; late afternoon or evening is often better.

This is not true. Nothing is "on" a MagicBand. They just link the information in your MDE. As long as the tickets are updated, the MagicBands will work to access the added days.

When last I modified my park tickets at WDW, the CM insisted on scanning each band individually before she would modify the tickets that were linked on them.

I wouldn't post this if it hadn't happened.

Perhaps you are talking about something else though.

There is nothing on the Magic Band. It is just a key to your MDE account. The CM probably wanted to scan each band to make sure the tickets on the account matched the magic bands everyone was using.

I'm not sure exactly what the CM was doing (nor am I saying it didn't happen!). I'm just clarifying that nothing is "on" or directly linked to any MagicBand. The tickets are in your MDE. All the band does is access that info. So there was nothing the CM had to do to or with the bands; he or she just had to update the ticket info in your MDE profile. No idea what he or she was actually doing.

I just upgraded my tickets twice on my last trip:

1st Upgrade: Add Park Hopper to 2 of our 5 tickets.
2nd Upgrade(2 days later): Add Park Hopper to the rest of the tickets and also add 1 day to all of the tickets.

Did it at the Hotel Concierge and it was super easy, only needed my magic band and it took under 5 minutes each time.

Also, if you buy a discounted ticket, you still only pay the difference Disney advertises. So, my sister got a UT 7-day Park hopper that was $50 cheaper than a ticket purchased thru Disney. When she upgraded to a 10-day ticket, it only cost her $30.

Good grief! I'm so tired of DISers that think they know everything when they don't.

Huskies90 and subtchr missed the point of my post in their effort to show me up. It gets tiresome and frustrating.

I posted to help the OP avoid the hassle I experienced.

That's it.

I purchased a DVC platinum plus annual pass. The DVC website says it needs to first used by Dec. 31, 2018. It's showing in my MDE as having an expiration of Dec. 31, 2030. Do you know if it will revert to the 2018 date or is it really 2030?

End of 2030 is the traditional expiration date for current AP vouchers.

Good grief! There was absolutely no effort to "show you up". The intent was to ensure that the correct information was given for everyone. Isn't that the intent of this board?

Many people don't understand how MagicBands work. We tried to share that info. One particular CM did something unusual in your case, but that was outside the normal procedure. You didn't know that it wasn't typical, but we thought it was worth sharing that it was.

Last March one of our group had a 5 day ticket purchased at Ft. Mead by someone who works for department of defense and we were not able to add an extra day to his ticket. Had something to do with the type of discount special ticket and we checked with guest relations in two different parks to be sure.

Military Salute tickets are a special case/special offers in Disney ticketing, and are subject to their own set of rules. HERE.

One drawback is that you will not be able to book any fastpasses for those additional days until you make your purchase.
