Tickets - help with adding days question...

I'm thinking about changing our room only ressie to add our tickets (and maybe dining, but that's a whole different issue  )... Anyway, we are a family of 5: me, DH, DS (7), DS (5) & DS (2). I will arrive on Wednesday with the younger two and my husband will arrive Thursday night late with the oldest.

Sooo - DH & DS (7) will go to the parks 3 days (probably hop), me and the other two will go 4 days. We have 2 adult and 1 child Park Hopper left over from a few years ago.

I was thinking about just booking 1 day park hoppers for the package, giving my DH the left over passes to use for his other two days, can I upgrade DS (7) and add one more day? And upgrade me and DS (5) by adding 3 days?

Is this the cheapest/best way to do this?? :confused3 Do I do this there? Will I still get a price benefit, or will it be a walk up price? I am so confused by all of the ticket choices and I know there are some pro's out there!! ;)

If I posted this in the wrong place - forgive me!!

Ok, let me try again...

If you book a package, can you add days to some of the tickets but not all, or do you have to make changes as a group?

Yes you could just upgrade some of them. You would have to do it at a park guest services. I have not done this but from what I have been reading you can. If you try and do it at check in they will probably tell you it needs to be the whole group.

Check the prices. You might not save anything by converting a room only reservation into a package if you don't have free dining or some other benefit offered.

DH being there for 3 days, a one day package ticket not upgraded plus the two adult leftovers is a perfect fit.

The child who will be there 3 days should use the leftover child ticket as-is along with a new 2 day ticket while the children who will be there 4 days should have tickets upgraded to 4 days each.

Finish the resort check in and receive the tickets/room keys into your hands before beginning the conversation about upgrading. If you run into difficulty, go to a park to do the upgrade.

Thanks so much for your reply - I just needed someone to confirm that my thinking was right. I'm thinking about adding the dining package - we will be there during f&w and the possiblility of using my snacks at the different booths around the world has me pretty excited!

Yes, if I understand you correctly!!

If you want to add the dining then you need a package so you need park tickets. In your case a one day one park ticket for each member of the party is what you want as part of the package. I would check in get all your room keys, dining and park passes and wait to upgrade until you get to the parks.

If you decide not to get the package to add dining then just purchase the type of tickets you need when you arrive.

If you do the 1 day tickets and want to upgrade or add on I suggest you figure out what you need on who's ticket ahead of time. IMHO the best place to do the add on or upgrades is guest relations inside at one of the theme parks. I prefer this because te outside GR lines can be long and the CM's can be flustered. Inside you get air conditioning and your not talking to the CM through a window!

Sorry I missed this,

When you originally book the package everyone has to have the same ticket. That's why the 1 day 1 park is a good idea for everyone. After you have checked in and gotten the dining and passes take them to the park to upgrade or add on to them. This way you can do each ticket individually depending on what each person needs.

Once you have the tickets in hand you can do with them what you wish!

Again, this is only an issue if you decide you want the dining. Otherwise just keep your room only reservation and purchase your tickets separately.

Thanks so much for taking the time to answer - I really appreciate it and now I have a plan!!! :)

If we decide to do dining I will get one day passes and upgrade what I need at Guest Relations inside the park. If I don't do dining, I'll just leave my room only ressie and get the tickets seperately.

Thanks!!!!
