So I am thinking of ordering AP, and using these to get FP for my April trip, as well as saving before prices rise.

However I am unsure at this point, I will use the AP in April. I may end up just buying a 2/3 day ticket (UT), and waiting until there to upgrade with actual # of days, maybe a 4-5 day ticket. (depending if we go in Dec following April, and may use AP, or and seeing if we feel like going the couple 1/2 days we have there, prior to paying for them.)

So, here is my question. If I buy and register online my AP for my MB and FP + for April, and use these for my FP+ ressies, and DO NOT use these AP tickets, will I end up in trouble with some how activating my APs? Or will I be okay to use the UT enter, then upgrade to save a few $$, and still have FP+ ressies from 3 weeks prior ..

THANK YOU!

This is what I know:
  • In order to make FP+ reservations, you must have tickets attached to your Magic Bands.
  • You can only make FP+ reservations for the number of days on the ticket that is attached to your MB, even if your ticket is for fewer days than the number of days on your resort reservation.
  • If you add days to your tickets, you can also extend your FP+ reservations for that number of days.

Adding your AP voucher to your MB does not start the clock ticking on the AP. The 365 consecutive days of admission do not begin until you activate the AP. I was still able to make FP+ reservations with just the voucher attached to my MB. This was during the testing period and may or may not apply when you make your trip. Some people reported having trouble adding their AP voucher in MDE but I used the smartphone app to scan the vouchers without a problem.

You can have more than one card attached to a MB at any given time. I have the room keys from both resorts from my last visit plus my AP. However, the room keys never had tickets on them. It's possible to inactivate any card attached to your MB by using MDE. Inactivated cards can be re-activated at any time thru MDE.

There have been reports of problems with having two or more ticket media attached and active on a MB. You just don't know which one will be used when you enter a park, so make sure that you inactivate any tickets attached to a MB if you don't want to use them.

Since I have an AP attached to my MB and FP+ reservations that I was planning to cancel, I tried a little experiment for you. I deactivated my AP on my MB and then checked to see if my FP+ disappeared. They didn't. So it appears that you should be able to deactivate your AP voucher and not lose your FP+ reservations - at least temporarily and as things stand under the current MB testing system.

You *should* be okay but why not just buy the passes from UT and attach them to your MBs to begin with? You can always remove them if you decide to go with the APs instead.

This is what I was hoping to hear!
