Just wondering if we can do this. We will be staying at DLH for three nights and want to purchase a 4 day ticket. We will use three days while staying at DLH and then we are moving to San Diego for a couple days and then return to Anaheim and stay off-site and want to be able to use the fourth day. Can we do that? Or will that not work? I am planning on booking straight thru Disney. Or should I buy tickets separate?

I could be wrong but I believe you have 1 yr from the first visit to use all your days up.

Will my tickets be on my room card? That won't deactivate the last day will it, once we leave...?

Yes, this will work. Buy your tickets separately from Disney, not as part of a package (you can still get it direct from Disney, just don't get it as part of a room + tickets package). That would be best and you can get a discount if you buy from Last Minute Travel or elsewhere. For San Diego, what do you plan to do? There is also a Southern California City Pass that includes the zoo, I think. But that's only a 3-day hopper so make sure you upgrade to a 4-day one before the end of the third day.

That is incorrect. You have 14 days from your first visit to use all entitlements.

You should get a hard ticket. Since you're staying on site at the beginning, make sure to tell them when you enter that you want to use your Early Entry entitlement (for staying on property) - I think it's still called Extra Magic Hour? You may entitled to a magic morning on the 4-day ticket so you can use that (at Disneyland only) when you are off-site.

Magic Morning occurs with a 3-day ticket.

Extra Magic Hour is what you get staying on site.

So, when using your ticket, make sure to ask that they NOT use your MM from the ticket, so you may take advantage of that when you come back for your last day, assuming its MM at Disneyland.
