Tickets at the Disney Store?

So when you say they are "activated" at the register the "countdown" to expiration, so to speak, hasn't started, has it? We are not going until Oct. I usually buy one at a time so the pain is lessened if you know what I mean! If I buy one in Feb. it won't be expired will it? I am not buying the expiration feature so it matters!

They expire 14 days after first day of use.

Here's what I have so far:

1) I CAN get the passes at the DS for the same price as online therefore getting the discount for early purchase.

2) I CAN get the hopper option at the DS.

3) The DS DOES NOT give you a voucher, but an actual ticket.

4) They DO NOT activate the 14 day countdown until I actually enter the park for the first time.

5) and the difference between the 4,5 and 6 day hopper option pass is only $1.

Did I get it FINALLY!?

Just another confirmation that you got it!

Terry-

You can clear possibly clear something up for me, since I was planning on going to the Disney store later today to get my tix.

I understand that you cannot buy the no expiration option at the DS and you need to add that when you get to the parks. But the manager of my local DS told me that you can use your tix and then add the no expiration option to ONLY THE DAYS THAT YOU HAVEN'T USED at the parks.

I had read on various sites (here and others) that the non-expiration must be purchase for the entire length of the ticket up front or even at the end, but that you would have to pay for the full 7 days on a 7 day, 3 days on a 3 day etc.

Can you shed any light on who is correct? Manager at DS or these boards?

TIA for your help!

Thanks Terry! Like I said this a trip for my family and 2 of my friends families and I am the one they are looking too for info., discounts, ideas, tips, secrets. Well you know! I DIED when the tix changed!

Anywho, I wrote it all down so I won't forget! Thanks to everyone again! I knew I could count on disers! puckerup:

Thanks to you all for all the great information given on this thread. I do as much research as possible as this was awesome. We are going to arrive on Sunday and planned on not being able to visit the pares but for $4 more, we're going to at least hit MK. Thank you, thank you, thank you! :cool1:

I have a question too, Terry. Does that mean the ticket at the DS doesn't use the biometrics when you go into the park, but is treated like the old Park Hoppers? I, too, would like to know about adding the "no expiration"---is it for whatever the ticket originally was, or just the remaining? Thanks.

Geesh now I don't feel so behind. I thought I was the only one left NOT understanding the new tix! I was under the impression this had already been discussed and I missed the boat! Glad we all learned something!

Okay, from our understanding, you would have to buy the no expiration on the original amount of days even if you use some of the days. So if you buy 7 days and use 5, you would still have to buy the no expiration for 7 days. (This is our understanding from what we read in the information they gave us. Unfortunatly, this information is usually clear as mud)

As far as the biometrics. We were not given any information at all on how they would be used at the park. I asked someone if they were vouchers or actual tickets and was told that as far as we knew they were tickets. The way it works with an AP is the first time you use the ticket it records your biometrics and then uses them later. But, the APs have names on them so it is easy if one person is then collecting the ticket and passing them back out. I don't know how that would work with these. Maybe a WDW park person who posts here can shed some light on how this is working? It might need to be posted in a different thread?

That is a very good question! I usually hold the whole family's tickets but it looks like my DH will have to hold his own the entire time since our biometric scan would be different and if we accidentally switch tickets......uh oh! I can't see any other way around this.
