Tickets arrived!!/Check-in query....

Our flight tickets finally arrived yesterday. Am skipping around saying 'we're going on a jolly holiday' and keep fetching them out to have a look

We're flying from Heathrow at 1pm a week on Sunday and been asked to check in at 10am. Is this the earliest check-in time?? (Airline is Air Canada)

There was a thread recently re checking in the night before (or several hours ahead at least) to ensure good seats. Do most airlines allow this or is it just such as Virgin?

Any advice/tips re checking-in and ensuring good seats v.welcome

Janet, Virgin has just re-introduced the twilight check-in, but it is at Gatwick only and I've no idea whether other airlines operate the same system. My guess would be probably not.

I've never flown Air Canada, but I always like to get checked-in early because I'm a nervous flyer and queuing at check-in just all adds to the stress. It's difficult to advise you on a time because a lot will depend on how many flights Air Canada are checking-in at the same time and whether or not they have dedicated desks or share with other airlines. I'd rather spend longer finding something to do around the airport than stuck in a queue at check-in. Personally, I'd probably be looking to check-in by 9am for a 1pm flight.

I suggest 'phoning them to ask them what time the desks open and go from there. And do they have a website where you could check how many flights they have each day from Heathrow and at what times?

My choice is to check in earlier too.What they actaully say is check in no later than 3 hours before the flight this means you can check in earlier.If you do wanrt more of a chice of seat I would check in at (am (if not a bit earlier) as Deb said.
