I haven't seen this posted here as yet, but as DVC members we are always looking for better ticket prices. The Disney Stores in the Chicago area right now are offering a $50 Disney Store credit card for EACH adult passport purchased there. According to a manager I spoke with today, only the Chicagoland and (some?) stores in Florida are offering this deal right now. You could also use your Disney Club card to purchase, so I assume the DVC card would also be valid.
This apparently started a week ago, and has no closing date AT THIS POINT.
It may be worth checking into now that we don't have park tickets to go with our points any longer.

That offer is only in certain areas of the country right now. Your DVC card is not valid for a discount on park passes at the stores.

Gail, thanks for clarifying. We never bought passes through the store so I wouldn't know. As I mentioned, as far as the manager knows, only the Chicagoland area and Florida stores have this deal at this point.

I was given the discount price with my DVC membership card at the (Orland Park, IL.) Disney store a couple of days ago. Specifically asked at that time about using it and was told either one (DVC OR The Disney Club card) would get me the discount.

Hi.
What exactly is a "passport" and does anyone know how long this offer is good for? We will be in Orland Park ("Chicago") over Thanksgiving and are very interested.
Thanks.

it is an annual "ticket" and as such it is good for one year from the date of activation at WDW's 4 major parks for a regular annual and all of the parks for a premium annual.

As a former cast member I can verify that you do get the discount with the Vacation Club card.

To further clarify ...there is no DVC discount on tickets, except for the length of stay passes...and those can only be purchased at your resort. Therefore there is no DVC discount on park tickets at TDS. There is a DVC discount at the Disney Store for other purchases. However Disney Club (formerly MKC) ticket discounts are available at TDS.

Not a cm, but this is how I've understood it to work.

Now if they will only expand this to the Philadelphia area! We need passes for our January trip!

hpygrll,
As a DVC member since 92, I am telling you that we do not get a discount on admission media with our DVC cards, other things, yes.
Some Disney Stores seem to have a problem understanding this, which, for the lucky ones is ok, but, it is not correct.

That is correct, Gail. Any CM that does give the discount is misinformed. i know that, in training, there is never a distinction given between Disney Club (formerly MKC) and disney VACATION
club discounts, and there should be. Alot do not even know that DC does not get discounts on collectibles but DVCers do. I've always thought that whatever discounts are given to DC members SHOULD automatically be extended to DVCers.

We purchased 3 annual passes at our local disney store and did receive the discount. I called two stores, one said yes and one said no to the discount question. Wasn't a tough decision as to which store to buy them at!!

Read the post on mousesavers.com about the tickets. They say the sale goes until the 25th of November. Something I didn't even think about, you can buy two tickets, get $100 in DS credit, then buy more tickets with the credit. That sounds like it real becomes a good savings. See mousesavers.com for more info.

Thanks for the info! Was going to buy our park hoppers before the supposed January price increase for our February trip to BWV. Guess I know where I'm going for lunch today!

Can anyone in the Chicago area get met a Pass? How about a DVC group purchase? How come Chicago and not NH or any where else?

Bought mine today at Oak Brook with my Disney Club card, not DVC. Got a t-shirt with each pass,3 adults and 3 children, and 3 $50 gift cards good at Disney Store or on line at disney.com. No advertisment anywhere in the store. It's also not every store that has them. The store at Yorktown mall, just 10 minutes from Oak Brook, does not have the promotion. I would call before you go to make certain that particular store is participating, and to make sure they have the type of pass you want in stock. If I had wanted anything other than the 6-day pass, I would have been out of luck.

My father in law just picked upur tickets for us at a Disney Store in FL. For each adult park hopper you get a T shirt and a $50 gift card. For each childrens park hopper you only get the T shirt. You cannot use the gift cards to purchase more tickets. you also can't use them to purchase Disney Dollars, only merchandise at TDS. It's still a great buy.
I've been told that some people were able to purchase Disney Dollars with theirs, but most stores know that this is not really part of the deal.
