I bought a set of 4 tickets to the Rolling Stones No Filter tour during the first day of the presale as a family Christmas gift. I was looking for seats in the $175/ticket range, but there were hardly any left. I did find 4 seats together in the $175 section, but they were $206 per ticket instead of $175 per ticket. (And we think Disney tickets are expensive!!!) The $206 tickets were called "Official Platinum" while the $175 tickets were call "Fan Presale", but they were all in the same section. Other Official Platinum tickets in the same area cost more than $206. They went up to $256!

I grabbed the cheapest one I could find ($206) for 4 in a row and called it a day. The second day of the presale I looked again out of curiosity. Official Platinum tickets right next to mine were now $356 a ticket. Today during the first day of the general public sale, they dropped to about $285. Ticketmaster calls it dynamic pricing!!! Again, these tickets are all in the $175/ticket section.

How on earth can Ticketmaster get away with "dynamic pricing"? Didn't they just settle a huge class action lawsuit for price gouging?

The concert business is among the least consumer-friendly business model on the planet*, don't get me started on how much I hate it. The good news is you're going to see the Stones, they have ginormous video screens that you'll be watching for most of the show so where you're sitting doesn't matter much.

* See also: airlines, but even they have more transparency.

I was included in the class action law suit and it was a joke. They are charging more than ever for tickets, surcharges, and fees.

I was included in it too. I had 9 $2.25 vouchers to use. I looked up the rules to see how many I could use for the RS tickets. The rules said I could use multiple vouchers per ticket purchase. WRONG! Ticketmaster only let me use 2 vouchers for my purchase. I didn’t ever get to use the many free ticket vouchers from Live Nation. Could never find any concerts to use them for.

You were able to use two? I have tried numerous times to use my 'vouchers'-- ha, ha, ha! What a waste of time. I won't even bother any more. Not only that, but on my recent purchases, I've noticed the fees are astronomical. We've stopped going to as many events as we did in the past because we refuse to pay the fees. We'll support our local parks and museums instead. However, on occasion, we use ticketmaster and I curse them every time.
