Ticketed event early entry question

I think I have read that you can get in the parks as early as 4 PM to the Halloween and Christmas parties. I do not want to use a 'park day' on the day I attend the Christmas party. If I have a 5 day ticket plus the Christmas party linked to my MB, does the card reader know to allow me into the park and consume the Christmas party ticket and not a regular park entry day?

Yes, just make sure you enter through the party specific line entrance.

At the parties we've attended it was the entrances on the right. There will be plenty of signage and castmembers pointing you to the correct tap points.
