Ticket Upgrade Questions

A friend has JUST returned from Disney after purchasing a 6 Day Pass. He is planning on returning to WDW this coming summer, so I told him he should call Disney and upgrade to a 10 Day Pass with No Expiration Option. I thought that he could upgrade 14 days from first use. He called and they are telling him that he must upgrade in person. Any Ideas? Did he just happen to get a misinformed Cast Member? Can the upgrade take place at the Disney Store?

He needed to upgrade before he used the last entitlement on his ticket.

That much is true.

But, it goes beyond that.
Even if he DID have one or more entitlements left unused on that ticket
and it was still within 14 days from that ticket's first use, the CM on the phone was
correct in that it is now WDW policy to not upgrade a ticket unless a guest is present at WDW to do so.

While anything is "possible" concerning "Pixie Dust" exceptions,
the regular policy is to not upgrade a ticket unless a guest is present at WDW.

He can't upgrade it now, but it probably would have ended up being more expensive than just buying a separate ticket for each trip anyway.
