Ticket upgrade question

I really have read several summaries of ticket upgrades, but somehow I can't find anything that answers my question. The short version: If I upgrade a ticket (e.g. add on days, or add on water park option), do I pay the difference in the price of the new ticket vs. what I paid for the original, or do I pay the difference between the new ticket and what my original would have been at the current time?

As a secondary question, if I buy discounted tickets (from a wholesaler) and upgrade those, is the original price the "full" price or the "wholesale" price, when computing the difference for an upgrade?

Here's the scenario. We're going to visit WDW this summer. We are not sure whether we will go for 5 days or 6. We could buy 5-day tickets now from a discounter. If we then want to upgrade to 6 days when we are there (assuming prices go up in the mean time), how much will we pay? For instance, a current 5-day base ticket is $335.48, and a 6-day is $346.13 (those are with tax). We can get discounted 5 day tickets for $322.95. Let's say that tickets go up to (just to pick a number - I don't expect these to be accurate) $340 for a 5-day and $350 for a 6-day. If we upgrade to a 6-day, would we pay:
A) $10, since that's the difference between a 5-day and a 6-day at that point
B) $14.52, since the 5-day was "valued at" $335.48 when I bought it, and the new one is $350
C) $27.05, since the 5-day was "actually" $322.95 when I bought it.
D) Some amount > $27.05, since Disney knows the price for the wholesale ticket (that the wholesaler paid before reselling) was less than $322.95.

I can't imagine it's (C) since Disney doesn't know what was actually paid, but I'm not sure if it's (A) in which case it makes sense to buy now, (B) in which case it's a borderline call, or (D) in which case we are probably better waiting until we know for sure what we plan to do.

Thanks for any clarification.

If you buy tickets from a discounter, use the ticket to enter a park at least once before you upgrade it, and you'll pay the difference between the gate price of the ticket you have (and I mean the gate price at the time of use) and the gate price of what you want to upgrade to. So right now, it would cost you $10.65 to upgrade from a 5 day ticket to a 6 day ticket.
