Ticket upgrade question

I think I have this right but I'm wondering if I'm missing an option. We have a 5 day php that we are using the week of Thanksgiving (M-F). I want to upgrade it to a deluxe pass. Deluxe passes are blacked out on T and F. I'm assuming I need to wait until at least Friday to upgrade our passes right? On Friday we can enter the park and then upgrade and still be able to be in the park even though it's a blackout date right (since we would be using our last day of the 5 day)? There's no way I can upgrade earlier in the week and still keep our T and F is there? If not, thats OK. I just want to make sure I understand how it works. We are looking forward to our first passes and (almost) unlimited access to the Mouse.

Sadly, you will need to wait to upgrade until Friday and yes, you can upgrade on Friday and still have access to the parks. If you think you will make heavy use of the AP discounts, it may be worth upgrading one person to an AP earlier and paying the block out ticket price for one person. This would of course depend on how much you plan to eat and buy in the parks. Have fun!

Thanks! Thats a great idea I hadn't thought of. I will be taking one extra trip myself next year so that actually might come in handy.

Or maybe upgrade one person to a premium pass for the extra discount and no need for blackout tickets. Blackout tickets are $70 each and you would need 2 for deluxe for thurs and fri. Making the premium pass $40 more with no blackouts and better discount.

Although, if they upgraded on Thursday, they wouldn't have to pay for the block out ticket that day. But they would lose AP discounts prior to Thursday. So it really depends on what you will be buying. And if you will be parking, since parking is $15 a day and is free with the premium AP.
