Ticket upgrade question

I just ordered 7-day park hoppers with water park option from undercover tourist last week. We are staying at SSR in Jan, and had planned our following trip for June 2010 so DH can go to Star Wars weekend. Tonight we are putting up the Christmas tree, and DH says, "We need to go back to Disney at Christmas." Well, that's all fine and dandy, but then I should have gotten annual passes if we're going at Christmas next year!

So, my question is, if I take the unused tickets I have to Disney with us, can I upgrade them when I get there to regular APs using the DVC discount? I know I could only upgrade to premium APs if any of the water park options were used on them, but if they're not used yet, will they let you upgrade to a regular AP? We really don't have to extra money for premium APs.

Am I better off just returning the tickets to undercover tourist and buying new APs from the DVC site?

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Yes you can upgrade to a regular AP. You would need to use the ticket once to get in the park an get the full gate price for the discounted ticket. Then go to guest relations and upgrade to AP making sure you have membership card and photo ID for all adults. The ticket value should be 328 for adult and 293 for child. DVC discounted AP is 369 for adult and 326 for child. You would pay 43.67 w/tax per adult and 35.15 w/tax per child. Please see Cheshire Figment thread on tickets for all the info http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1452684
