Ticket to AP Upgrade

Hi,

I will be taking my kids down to DL at the end of March and again at the end of June beginning of July. I plan on purchasing each of us Deluxe AP's. I had planned on buying 3 day park hoppers then upgrading on our last day because I thought that would be the day the AP would start. This way they would still be valid next year at the same time so we could go again. My SIL is telling me that they will actually start the AP from the first day that I used my 3 day park hopper.

Who is right? I am trying to figure out what would be a better deal for my kids and I.

Welcome to DIS.

Your SIL is correct. When you upgrade your ticket to an AP, you essentially have been using your AP the day you first used your ticket. It is then good through to the same date of purchase next year (technically 366 days).

Yes, as Dreams stated your sister is correct. We did this last year, had hoppers and then upgraded on our black out day to AP's. Our AP's were back dated (as they were when we've done this previous years) to 4-4 which was the first day of use in 2011.
