Ticket question

I have a couple questions about the Florida resident tickets we bought my boyfriends kids. We were able to make fast passes and everything online already. I had the actual tickets mailed and they just arrived
  • Do we have to go to guest services to activate these tickets? Since they're both children they won't have ID or anything so how does this work?
  • We are going to Disney before this trip, could we go to guest services to activate their tickets without them or do they need to be present? I'm guessing they do, but it would be a lot easier to do this
  • One of the kids is autistic so we were going to get that pass thing to avoid waiting in lines. Where do we go to do this? Would it be in the same place to activate the tickets or will we have to go somewhere else?

With respect to “that pass thing,” you are referring to the Disability Access Service (DAS).” To request DAS, the individual with a disability must go to guest services and they (or parent/guardian) should discuss why the individual cannot wait in line because of their disability- it’s needs based, not diagnosis based. If granted DAS, guest services will need to scan your party’s magic bands. When ready to use the DAS, you (person/band with disability) will go to a ride entrance. You will be given a return time equal to the standby time, minus 10 minutes. You are free to wait anywhere you’d like (you are free to ride other rides, but can only have one active return time) until you reach your return time, when you return to the ride, your band will be scanned and you can enter the fastpass queue.

Many people find the DAS works best when used in conjunction with fastpass and a good touring plan.

I know how it works, I’m wondering if we can get it in the same place as activating their tickets. Is Guest services the same place as tickets or is that will call?

Guest services and ticket windows are not quite the same. You can request a DAS at GS at any of the 4 major parks inside the park. Depending on staffing and queues, you may be able to request one at the window outside the park.

You can activate a ticket at any ticket window, including DS.

Sometimes they can do both at the ticket window and sometimes they can not. If there is a long line at the ticket window or the CM does not have the right iPad then they can not and you will have to go to GR inside the park to ask about a DAS.

Thanks! It might be easier requesting the DAS inside the park that'll break up the waiting in lines

Hopefully the lines won't be too bad since we'll be arriving around noon

When you get your DAS ask them for a return time then they should add one then you can take a slow walk to your ride of chose

Thanks! I'm really excited for this trip, it'll be the first time I go with my boyfriend's kids.

This is no longer the case. The return time will equal the amount of time currently posted for standby. If standby is 90 minutes, you can return in 90 minutes.

I have not been able to do this for at least the past two years. You have to go to the ride to get a return time.

OP, which park are you going to first? I would recommend going to Guest Relations outside of your first park first to get the DAS and ask if you can activate the tickets as well. They can typically do both. You cannot get DAS at a ticket window and the lines for GF outside of the parks is typically shorter than the line inside. That's been my experience anyway.

I am sure you are excited. Have you seen this guide for guest with Disabilities https://wdpromedia.disney.go.com/me...lities-services/wdw_cognitive_guide_ilove.pdf it has some helpful things like places that are quieter. oh, and Go, Noles!!
Thanks this is great! :)

That's fine to go to the ride. She didn't give much input on what rides she wanted to do so hopefully day of we can get more of a game plan. I did make the three fast passes per day though.

We are going to Hollywood Studios for our first day. So just to clarify you're saying we should go to Guest Relations first to get the DAS and they can activate the tickets? The tickets don't need to be activated to get this done?

I go to Disney about once every 4-6 weeks and use MY DAS card all the time they always take 10 minutes off the return time not sure why you think they do not but if you see it not happening ask the CM why.

and they will give you your first return time when going to GR ( I have to stop by just about every visit either to renew my DAS or add someone on) the GR CM about 90% of the time will ask me what ride I am going on and add it if they do not then I asked them. The only time they do not do this is if you are stopping by before the park opens like MK they open Main street an hour before the park opens if you stop by then they will not have a time for you since the park is not opened and there are no ride times. Since the OP will be getting there around noon they should have no problem asking for a return time to start with.

Reports of this being successful have been hit or miss, and i’d venture to say mostly misses. You are a frequent visitor to the parks and seem to know at least a few CMs. I don’t doubt that your experiences may not be quite the same as a more typical guest on family vacation. That said, there’s no harm in asking.

OP — you can go to a Guest Relations window outside DHS. They can handle activating the tickets (I believe a FL resident ID or documentation will be required of the adult), and most likely they can issue a DAS there as well. Just know there is a chance they’ll direct you inside the park for the DAS. But if you can get it all done at the first stop, that’ll save waiting in line a second time.

Enjoy your vacation!

Thanks! When approaching the entrance where exactly is the Guest Relations? Does it clearly say it? I don't think I've ever been to one before.

IF you are talking about regular day tickets (not Annual passes), you shouldn't have to activate the ticket. You should be able to walk right in with it.

I believe HS GR is on the left ( or at least the one inside on your left) and I think the outside one is too. it is marked and I believe @Robo has a map that shows where the GR is located at.

my parent got FL tickets and they had to show ID to use them. I think since the kids are under 18 then the adults will have to show ID for the tickets. I know we did this at the MK and also talked to the CM about upgrading to an AP for them it took just a few minutes to show them the tickets and ID for the ticket to be active and few minutes to see how much it would be for an AP and then I added my parents to my DAS card I did this the day before we entered the parks so on day one we had everything done.

It's Florida resident 3 day pass. Does it make a difference that they are for Florida resident?

It won't be a problem to have the adults show ID, although I don't think mine would matter since he's their father. When you say you added your parents to the card, what does that mean exactly? Does everyone have to have their name on it so when we go back to the ride they know it's the four of us?

Yes everyone in your group needs to be on the DAS ( it is on the MB now but you all need to be added) when you go to the ride the CM will ask who is riding and you will tell them. anyone linked to the DAS can get a return time but the DAS holder will need to scan first.

My parents had the FL 3 day pass very easy to show ID ( or in your case your boyfriend to show ID) and get in

Just to avoid any disappointment, the purpose of a DAS pass is NOT to avoid waiting in lines. Its purpose is to provide a "placeholder" in the line for the individual who CANNOT be in the actual physical line (due to an large ECV or maybe because they go into a PTSD episode in a dark queue ; you have to explain WHY they need the DAS because a diagnosis is not enough proof).

You will be waiting in line for a whole host of things, including, but not limited to: Tickets and Transportation trams, Security, Guest Services, the Turnstiles, any restaurant, outdoor kiosks that sell toys and food, stroller parking, elevators, gift shops, Park Transportation of all kids, Rides, Attractions, the Parade, other shows, Dance Parties, Character Meets annnnnnnnnnnnnnd not least, the BATHROOMS! Pretty much, Disney is standing in one line or another! LOL

The only people who get to head right up to "the front of the line" are VIP Guests and you would know if you had shelled out that kind of cash. ;)

the CM at GR adding a return time for me as something extra is slim to none ( there are a lot of reasons why I think this ) but tow they did this one time when I went in for a ticket issue my parent had and the CM told me they were only to do this when renwing the DAS or adding people to it, but did it as a little pixie dust and told me it was, and I know other people that only go down once a year and they have had no problem with geting a DAS retrun time at GR. I think why so many people say it can not be done is because they are getting there DAS cards before the park opens. Since all the parks let guest in up to an hour early most people will stop at GR and get there DAS card first thing and since all the park beside EPCOT GR is before where they hold you you can do this before the park opens and if you do get your DAS before the park opens they can not add a time to for you for your first ride. There have been times I thought the park was opened and was told no I did ask why and the CM said the park was not opened yet. I was just down there this past weekend the CM next to me was adding the gust next to me first ride in, my friend I was with lost her phone when to GR and again the person next to use was getting a DAS and the CM was adding there first return time
