I am trying to find out if it is possible to get a hard card for ticket instead of paper? When I made my reservation at the GC I thought she told me that my tickets would be the hard card but today when I talked to holet operator she said they wouldn't? Anyone know how I can get hard card tickets?

Hmm I don't have a TON of experience, but I booked a package through Disney at HoJo, and my tickets were the credit card like tickets when I received them in the mail. I don't understand why yours wouldn't be?:confused3

Well maybe they will be? If I buy at Safeway do I still get to be ale to get fastpasses? I have never purchased anywhere but Disney? I am staying on site so I should get the MM and the other one at CA I think?

Yes. As an onsite guest you get to partake in EMH everyday of your stay. If you puy a PH at the store, they may exchange it for a paper ticket when you get to the park..just an FYI.
I have booked trips through Costco that provided the hard tickets. The cardboard tickets are very sturdy and can be used in the FP machines without a problem.
There seem to be a few threads about this topic lately. Why does everyone have issue with the cardboard tickets?

I know! The paper tickets are not flimsy like a sheet of paper. They are card-stock and really quite durable.

There is NO guarantee of getting plastic card tickets with a Disney package. Some people on these boards have specifically booked packages rather than buying their tickets online in hopes of getting the plastic tickets and have found that they ended up getting the paper tickets anyway. You can buy plastic hoppers at a grocery store if they have them near you.

Fwiw I actually like the paper tickets. Less bulk and I can get fast passes quicker.

The paper/cardboard/cardstock papers are made with Tyvek. So they aren't as flimsy as you might fear.

To answer a tiny question asked in between, ANY ticket can be used for FPs. If you buy an e-ticket through disneyland.com, you have that printout scanned at the turnstiles and a Tyvek-including proper ticket pops out for you. If you get it through a place like getawaytoday.com they have their own way of turning your purchase into a Tyvek-including proper ticket. If you get a vacation package from many places (like Costco Travel) you'll get a plastic proper ticket. etc. No one ever has a ticket (that I've ever heard of) that cannot be used in the FP machines.

Disney Store!! Disney Stores only carry the plastic tickets, and only carry the 3, 4, and 5 day passes. Call your store first for availability as some tickets sell out quickly and take some time to get replenished. :)

For the amount I saved on 6 tickets at Costco, it doesn't bother me they are the cardboard type. The only way I have gotten the plastic card is when I've booked a package.

Our next trip will have 6 people, 1ticket age3-9yrold and 5tickets age10+. That would have been about $1630 for 4day hopper tickets.
With the Costco special a ticket and $50 gift card for $259.99 we have save a substantial amount.

Good luck finding the plastic style.

I don't get it either but recently there have been a ton of posts about it
Personally I would take the plastic one only because I like the firmness so my kids can play around and don't have to worry about them wadding it up
Otherwise "who cares" for me

.

Yes, it's not ripping easy and can get wet
