What is the difference between a "Wedding Annual Pass" that comes with the Escape Package and a regular annual pass?

As far as I know, there isn't.

The only difference is that you can't upgrade the wedding annual passes to premium APs (the ones that include water parks)—they function only as basic APs with admission to the 4 theme parks.

I am not sure I understand the logic. If someone is willing to pay the upgrade difference, why would they not let them convert to a Premium AP? I don't see how thats cheating anybody.

Because the passes DFTW gives you are like promo tickets. They have a $0 value in Disney's system. They work the same as a full-price basic Annual Pass, but they are not recognized by the system as having a full value that can be applied toward any other pass.

It would be like if you won free balcony-seat concert tickets from a radio station and then tried to apply them toward buying orchestra seats. They are freebies, not actual full-price tickets.

I know it's a drag, but, hey, they're free!

Do you know if when the passes expire if you can renew them? Or would you have to go through a whole other process of getting another AP?

Well I guess the term "FREE" is relative considering that they are a part of the wedding package you are paying for. But I do see your point.

Its not something I would argue or make a fuss about.....I just wondered about the reasoning. Thanks for your insight.

I completely agree! With the Wishes Collection, the passes have never been listed as being included in the price and are more of a perk. But with Escape, they list the passes as part of the package, and the price of the package leapt by $900+ the year that they added the APs.
