I am interested in buying the park hoppers that are "Buy 3 Days Get 2 Free" or something similar to that, however, I am also very interested in buying the So. California ticket. Is there a way to buy them separate minus the Disneyland portion?

Sorry if this sounds vague, hopefully it will make sense.

This is our first time at Disneyland and we would ideally like 4 days in the park as well as visiting other attractions in San Diego.

Thanks.

When you buy the city pass it is like doing one thing for free, so you have to do all of the tickets, to be ahead money. A huge commitment of time and energy! Next time, if I was doing more than just DL, and I probably wouldn't because I love the DLR so much...
I would just buy my other attraction tickets seperate. It seems like there are always some specials to be had for those tickets too.

I agree with above poster. There are always coupons for other attractions, but very few specials to be found for DL. Buying them all separate enables you to change plans last minute if you are too tired to visit somewhere. With the City Pass you'd loose or not save any money if you skip an attraction.

On the Universal and Sea World sites, there's a deal going on that gives you unlimited acess to both parks for 14 days. I don't know the kid rate, but the adult rate is $99. Might be worthwhile to check out.
Unless you truly want and plan to do each and every thing in the SoCal pass, and there's not any discounts available, then it's really not a great buy. Convenient, yes.
You do have to buy the packet as it comes. From my understanding (haven't done it myself) you have a coupon type book that you have to keep intact and present at each venue.

I agree with all of the above, however, if you buy the City Passes, you can also add a day or two on to the DL tickets by upgrading them. Of course, these still aren't the buy three get two bonus tickets.

Thank you all for your replies.

Buying them ahead of time would be convenient because they would be paid for, but you never know if a child gets sick or you just want to do something else instead, they you have committed to these tickets. I will keep my eyes peeled for specials when I am ready and always ask the experts on this board!
