Ticket question not addressed in sticky

I have a 1-day base ticket from a package I purchased last year. It is an adult ticket. My friends are going to WDW over Thanksgiving, and still need to purchase a ticket for their 8-year-old daughter(my god-daughter). If I give them the 1-day base ticket, will they be able to apply the value to a child's 7-day hopper? I would not mind if I lost some of the ticket's value...if the agent needed to convert the 1-day adult base to a child's 1-day base before upgrading it...I would completely understand. Has anyone had any experience with this? Thanks!

and by yes, they will apply the dollar value of the ticket to the child 7 day hopper... and if I do the math right, you want to do this before using the ticket once.

this is a rare exception to the use the ticket once before upgrade rule. if the ticket is used for the child's admission as is, the only way it can be added to is as an adult ticket, which would cost a lot more to turn into a 7 day adult hopper than what would be lost by using last years cash value vs. this years cash value in converting to an adult one day into a child 7 day hopper.

well it is so rare ya find the exception to the use first then upgrade rule, i figure everyone has to weigh in... though when I weighed in my scale screamed, "get off me tubby!"
