On the old Length Of Stay tickets, if you arrived on Sunday and left Saturday afternoon, your ticket was good from the moment you arrived until the moment you left the property.

With the Magic Your Way tickets, would you need to purchase a 7 day ticket to accomplish the same thing?

Yes, basically you will be in the parks for 7 days. I would buy a 7 day ticket myself because I arrive early in the afternoon on my first day and on my departure day I leave late in the day and always spend my last day in the MK.
If you do not buy the no expiration option your tickets are good for 14 days from the first day you use them.
The longer you stay the cheaper the ticket costs per day:
An adult 6 day ticket with park hopping (before tax) is 47.17 per day or $283.02 and a 7 day ticket with park hopping is 40.86 per day or 286.02.
In your case you would do just a well to get a 7 day ticket.

So the Length of Stay where better in the fact that you purchased based on "nights" in the room and they were good the day of checkout, so if you wanted to do a last 2 hours in the Magic Kingdom before heading to the airport you could, but now you need to pay for a whole day to do that.

Yes, you have to buy an additional day. But, as helenk pointed out in her post, you are only paying $3 more for the additional day.

LOS was a little different because I think it also automatically included water parks and park hopping. With MYW, you can just buy a base ticket and add what you need.
