We don’t fly that much so we don’t use frequent flyer miles often. We purchased 1 tic with miles and 1 out of pocket before the virus shut downs. We are supposed to leave on Dec. 2 for WDW On Delta. If there is a second wave, what do you think our options would be? Refund? Miles redesigned to account?

For miles, if you cancel there is typically a redeposit fee. I don’t know if they are making exceptions.

American is currently waiving redeposit fees, but don't know what Delta will do.

The only people who can tell you that are Delta, and whatever they tell you today may change by December.

I have done some research. If the airline cancels your flight you are entitled to a refund to your method of payment. When this first started airlines tried to give e-credits instead. DOT stepped in and "refreshed" their memory that a refund has to be included as option. So in your case you pay of pocket will be refunded to your credit card and the Skymiles will be credited to your Skymiles account, if you want a refund vs an e-credit.

Also if your original flight departure/arrival changes by a certain number of hours, they are also required to give a refund if you request it. I am not sure of the number of hours.

Right now airlines are allowing people who bought or were scheduled to fly during certain time frames to cancel for an e-credit or reschedule the flight with no penalty. They have extended the time before the e-credit expires, in Delta case from one year to two years. Right now you don't qualify for this.

So basically you have to sit on your hands to see if policies I refer to in paragraph are change as we go forward.

Also keep a copy of your current flight numbers and departure/arrival times. While they may change by a few minutes between now and your departure which is not a big deal. You want to have the original flight times just in case you want to cancel because they ultimately changed your flight past the 4 hour time limit.

I will try to find actual time limit.

I just cancelled my trip With United booked with miles. Their no fee waiver is in effect up to April 30. My miles will be deposited and taxes paid will be refunded to my cc. No feEs to cancel. My flights were Oct 31 and Nov 11.

I cancelled my daughter's April trip on United. I had to call in and they were able to put my points back without the cancel fee. I would think if there is another wave, you will probably be able to get the fee waved. But no offense, I sure hope that wave is minimal if at all.
