Ticket Purchase Question

I'm confused about purchasing DL tickets. In researching costs for an Oct 22 trip, it was possible directly through the Disney (and also Costco) websites to book hotel and park tickets. However, in researching renting DVC points to stay in a GC villa, I realized that didn't include park tickets. So went direct to the DL site and looks like tickets are only sold through May of 2022. I realize a park reservation must be made, but are the tickets dated as well? How soon should we be able to purchase tickets?

On the Disney website, it won't let me just purchase tickets without putting in dates. My dates aren't until October and that calendar isn't even out yet. Are tickets not available for purchase until closer to the date? I was hoping to buy them early in case there is a price increase later on.

You can purchase tickets without making a reservation from third party resellers such at GAT, UT aRES and others. That would allow you to "guard" against a price increase and make the reservation when they are available which is currently 120 days out.

Are third party resellers safe? If you do purchase using them, can they be linked in the Disney app?

yes to both. I don’t know if I can post the names here but I’ve gotten both UT and ParkSavers for both WDW and Disneyland and had no problems linking them in the app or using them in the parks. You will want to choose the digital option so you can get the ticket number emailed right away to add to your My Disney Experience account.

Also, I wouldn’t count on the DVC villa unless you personally know someone who is giving or renting you points. From 8-11 months out, only a GC villa owner can book a reservation and those go super quickly since there aren’t that many available. I tried in November 2021 to book for October 2022 renting points with David’s and they were booked solid for a studio in September and October 2022.

Oh gosh...I just put a deposit down through DVCRentals and they said there was availability, although we are in the waiting period to see if an owner picks up the rental. This would be for a two bedroom.

Fingers crossed! Studios are usually booked first so you have a good chance for a 2 bedroom. It’s the point availability that is the concern. They don’t have many GC owners. You may want to have a backup reservation just in case that you can cancel if you get your rental!

Yes, poke around on here to see commonly used authorized resellers like the ones mentioned above, those are totally safe and can easily be scanned into the app. Definitely avoid Tickets at Work.

Huh. After reading this thread, I decided to go ahead and purchase our tickets for our June trip. I tried purchasing in the app but also could not proceed without picking dates (which aren't available). It lets me select the type of ticket I want and child/adult, then it says "Choose Your Dates" and there is no option to proceed without reserving dates. Am I doing it wrong?

Replying to my own post because I actually got a prompt reply to this question through the Disneyland chat app. The answer from the agent is verbatim as follows:

"Theme park reservations can be made up to 120 days in advance. Guests may update their theme park reservation dates by cancelling their existing reservations and booking new reservation dates; new reservation dates are subject to availability. If you want to purchase now you can and when your dates become available you can cancel and rebook."

I then clarified that what is being suggested is to buy tickets now by booking any dates that are available, and then cancel those dates and choose the correct trip dates once they became available. The answer to this was:

"Yes if you want to purchase now that would be the path to follow or you could wait until the dates you want become available and purchase at that time."

I'm taking option #2. I do not want to mess around with booking and cancelling fake dates.

You can buy direct, pick any dates, and then cancel the dates until the dates you actually want become available :confused3 . No one is locked into the dates they choose at purchase with multi day tickets.

The only exception would be 1-day tickets because those are date specific due to being tiered and you would need to know what tier the date you actually want will be.

If you want tickets now to beat any price increase then go with the trusted ticket sellers like GAT, UCT .

I have our tickets booked for October with GAT.
