I am so jealous of all of the Southern Californians out there!! Not only do they get to live near DL, but they can now get Annual Passports for $99...while 3 day Park Hoppers are $114!!

I know DL is dependent on local visitors. But how will this be helpful from a business perspective? Do local guests really spend that much in the parks, or are they just hoping to sell that many more passports?

Hopefully, DLR will announce some type of discount for Park Hoppers in 2002! I was planning on buying some Park Hoppers for Christmas gifts, but now I think I will wait.

The $99 So Cal Annual Pass has 160 "blockout" dates. Only the $199 Premium pass is valid every day of the year.

The $99 AP (if memory serves correctly) is only good from Sunday-Thursday. If the $99 AP holder wants to go on a Friday/Saturday, then he/she has to pay an additional $20 (or close to that).

This allows the locals to hop on over to DL/DCA during the week, and there are a lot who do that.

Local business is MAJOR for Disneyland. Keep in mind that the LA basin alone has 10 million people in it. Add in neighboring regions like San Diego (another 2.5 million people) and you're talking lots of people who can easily visit Disneyland multiple times per year. So yes, it makes excellent business sense for Disneyland to offer special rates to Southern Californians.

If you want to "hop" and you think you might come back within the year, you could get a Deluxe AP for $149 that will give you admission on all but the 45 busiest days. No residency requirement.
