Ticket Prices just went up

Park ticket prices went up today according to mouseplanet making it the first time in 20 years that there were two price increases in the same year.

Actually, they price went up yesterday. Leaving a lot of us scrambling to get tickets.

It definately was an expensive weekend!

Here is the announcement. - About a 6% increase in the price of a 1 day ticket (but also an extra $5 for the park hopper option to $45) and about 4.5% increase for an annual pass. Yikes! Thank goodness I bought an annual pass two weeks ago.

Disney Ticket Prices Increase August 6, 2006

Walt Disney World announced an across the board ticket price increase for Magic Your Way and Annual Passport tickets effective August 6, 2006. Water Park and Disney Quest tickets were increased $1 each. Ticket prices were last raised in January of this year.

A one-day one park ticket for persons 10 and older becomes $71.36 with tax from $67.10 with tax.

The price to add on a Park Hopper Option to the Magic Your Way tickets goes from $40 to $45. The No Expiration option also increases in price beginning with Day three, this seems to have the biggest price increase.

New Adult Annual Passport goes from $441.98 to $462.21 (tax included); while the Premium Annual Adult Passport goes from $574.05 to $595.36 (tax included).

Yah ... luckily we have pass renewal certificates, so we should be okay until next year. I'm getting worried though that AP's are going to start costing more than my Annual Dues ...

What's the deal - tix went up in January as well which makes 2x in 7 months - factor in that increase plus, new taxes, plus our exchange rate (thank God it's not too high at the moment), we take a big hit this year! We obviously love Disney as we are DVC members, but price increases like this are yucky!

Yes but back then ticket prices seemed reasonable.Frankly others have told me that no one checks ages if you buy the tickets online, but he wants his own "big boy" ticket and I have no problem with that. It is really not that much more. Its the airline price I had a problem with once he became two. Buy oil service stocks. They will be coming back up again.

My best guess is that they're changing the date of the price increase to coincide with the release of packages for the next year, so they don't have to reprice packages midyear any longer.

WDW is still a bargain. We paid the equivalent of less than $40 per day for our tickets to the best theme parks on the face of the Earth. That's an excellent value, and well worth the price.

Ticket prices don't go up in The Disney Stores until Wednesday.....
