Ticket Prices Increasing June 12th!

Wow. Increases of over $50 a ticket. THAT IS EXCESSIVE and is jumping the budget of our trip well over $200+.

I can't even afford to buy them now. FML.

Thanks for the replies. Yep, I just realized while my brain was spinning that the Premiers have to be bought in person. Darn it! We will be at DLR in 7 days and that will be 6 days too late to buy them.

I think I am totally out of luck, unless I buy WDW APs and upgrade them to Premiers at WDW...

This will not result in saving money as the price you will pay when you upgrade is the price at the time minus the amount you paid.

If I buy a 4-day hopper today at the online price ($201 ish) and upgrade to an AP while I am at DLR next week, will the price credited toward the AP be the 201ish or what the 4-day hopper costs next week?
The credited amount is always the amount you paid. So... New price of AP - whatever you paid for 4 day PH = what you will pay

Darn all this math.
:rotfl: That made me giggle.

I don't know the ins and outs of non-expiring WDW PHs, except that you can use them one day at a time at DLR for admission. Is a 10-day ticket really cheaper than an AP?

Just plot out the numbers and figure out what works best.

You can't buy vouchers for Premier Passports, as far as I know. They have to be purchased in person, and that means they will be activated.

Other Disneyland passport vouchers, which you can buy online, expire after a year, as someone else mentioned. From what I've heard, they are honored after a year, but you have to pay the price difference. Essentially what you're buying is a price guarantee for a year.

Ok, I"m trying to think of a way to avoid the price increase for Premier APs. Since they're activated by purchasing in person, what if we purchased regular or premium WDW APs online at the current price and then upgrade them to Premier APs when we get to WDW in Sept.? Could that be done? We didn't want to activate our passes until September.

Yes, that can be done, but your cost would be as follows:

Price of Premier AP at time you upgrade - price you paid for Premium AP = amount due

You would not be avoiding the price increase, just paying it later instead of sooner.

Darn! Thanks for the reply. And BTW, depending on which coast you live on you're either up very late or very early.;)

Thank you so much for starting this thread and posting this information...our trip is less than 2 weeks away...buying my PAP and PH for 3 of my family members today will save me $180 (with the online discounts)...

This board is amazing!:lovestruc

OK - this is so not good news. I have the WDW annual pass that I was able to purchase last year at a good price but was thinking of up grading to the Premier Passport when I went down to WDW in July as I'll be heading there in August for 5 days.

I know that the Premier Passport was $700 ($723 with tax) and now is $749 - does anyone know if that is with or w/out tax? I think that might have just pushed me back to just keeping my regular pass and buying park hoppers for my DL visit. Bummer.

Since the website gave the old price as $700 and the new price as $749, I'm assuming it does not include tax.

I have been saving like crazy for our DL Deluxe AP passes for October. And now I'm kind of freaking out!!! We can't do an additional $200 for our passes!!!

Can someone please answer this question for me??? I need to know if I buy the APs today and activate in Oct will our passes be valid Oct to Oct?????

If so, I need to quick transfer my $450 in Disney Visa Rewards to my rewards card so I can head down to the Disney store today!!

Thanks so much for any help with this!!

I find the fact that DL tickets now have park hopper prices for tickets over 2 days strange. So now they are charging for park hopping on multi day tickets. Since DCA is not yet a "full park" I am rather shocked about that. I can see making this change in 2012 when DCA updates are completed.

I am not sure what to do in our case. We are going in Aug. Normally we would just buy the 4 day tickets right now.

DH's cousin lives in LA and we will be staying with after our DL portion of our trip is over. She just contacted me and said her boss had DL contacts (friends with someone who is high up in DisneyLand) and he is trying to get us free park tickets. However they are going on a week long business trip and can't do it until they get back. I wrote back yesterday to thank her and and said no rush, no problem.

Now they release this info and I don't know if I should buy now or wait. I am thinking wait. It is so kind of her to even try to get us free passes. He boss said he will make it happen and when he says that, he does.

I don't know how many days he will make happen. My guess is 4 one day tickets. I am thinking if that is the case, I could use use the one day tickets each day, and buy the rest of us 4 day hoppers.

I doubt that complementary tickets have a gate value to be added to a upgraded ticket. Why couldn't they raise the rates in Aug like they normally do. I mean it hasn't even been year since they last raised the rates. That really bites!

We have a trip planned arriving on June 19. I already bought 4 day passes online through a work discount program. I upgraded to annual passes in 2007 and at that time they gave the current ticket price as the price of the upgrade (after I had activated the tickets). We went to Disneyworld last summer and considered upgrading to the Premium pass and when I checked pricing, I would have gotten the current price of the ticket for the upgrade. Is it definite that you will only get the price you paid for the ticket in the upgrade once the ticket is activated? We were considering upgrading for another trip next year, but the savings wouldn't be enough if we only get what we paid for the current tickets to justify upgrading to annual passes, even with the DVC discount.

I read through the first few pages of this thread last night, and the deal was that you could buy your AP voucher and then you have a year to activate it, but the clock won't start ticking on your AP itself until you activate it (see Sonnyjane's post #82). So, yes, go buy your vouchers for October today!

And you are the queen of the DRV - I thought we were doing good when we had $78 dollars to transfer towards our APs in May. :)

Thanks Carla!! I hadn't hear anything concrete about the activation vs. purchase date so I just had to make sure. I'm headed down to the Disney Store today to get these!!:cool1:

About the DVRs, we put just about everything we can on our Disney Visa and then pay it off at the end of the month. Several bills go on there including cell phone, Mollys monthly braces payment, water bill, electricity bill, Bens trumpet rental, etc, etc etc. Also all of our daily purchases- groceries, gas and even our dental bills, cruise deposit and payments. It all adds up.

Next month we've got an oral surgery and Bens braces down payment to put on there so that will be $1300!:scared1:

We do pretty good as we've only been saving these rewards for one year. And we used $100 on the cruise this past spring, otherwise we'd now have $550.
Did you guys end up getting AP's??? Oops! I went back and re-read your post and I see that you did get APs..... Congrats!! It's so much fun knowing you can go whenever you want (for the next year anyways) and for however long you want.

Are the Passport Plus tickets available for sale online anywhere? I can only find the regular park hoppers on the DL site or aaa.com. TIA.

We are going in Novemeber for 3 days; I'm thinking I should buy our Hoppers now. My issue is my friend can sign 3 of us in on the days we meet her. Maybe I will just buy the little kids their tickets? But I'm also looking at that Costco deal.

Each of our family members is on a different renewal cycle. It's just how it has worked out. We are lucky in that my wife and I just renewed our yesterday morning! My DDs expires July 1, so I guess we're going down to do that one today. The other kids in our house are just out of luck I guess.

It's great to have a heads up, but wow this is short notice.

I suppose with the way the parks have been so crowded they figured that upgrading the prices was a pretty easy thing.

You are withing the window to renew your daughter's AP today at the current price.

I hope someone can help. I am a new DVC member and was wondering if I can use my DVC membership discount when I purchase an annual pass this weekend. I do not live near DLR. Is there any options?

It's a $20 discount

That's what I thought. Question though. DD currently has a Deluxe. If I upgrade to Premium and I buy today I think they pro-rate the difference for a month and give her the Premium immediately, but I also have to pay that pro-rated difference.

If I buy a voucher today for the Premium at the lower price, I lose the renewal discount but I don't have to pay the pro-rated difference.

If I wait and purchase the upgrade when her pass expires as a renewal, then I pay the higher price but I get the renewal discount and I don't have to pay the pro-rated amount.

I guess I'm going to have to do some math to figure out which is cheapest.

To make matters worse, DD is considering becoming a CM, which makes the whole AP thing moot.

The Costco tickets are only good through August 31, 2011.
