Ticket Prices Going Up on Sunday!

If you notice on the prices, Children's and Adult annual passes will now be the same price.

That was a huge increase because of that. I just finished buying my grandkids APs through the DVC website. Saved $94 a ticket (times 2 tickets) by buying early -- like 1 year early.

We have a FD package booked for Aug. and I was going to upgrade to AP when we arrived. Is there anyway I can do this now instead?

You could buy an AP voucher now and activate it when you arrive but there is no way to upgrade a ticket from your package to an AP until you check in and take it to guest relations.

would that work? would the $ I paid on my package deal for tickets cause me to be double charged? Does that even make sense?
For example if I had to book 2 days park tix on my free dining ressies and then when I arrive I present them with my AP voucher, do I still get charged for the 2 nights?

You have to buy the 2-day tickets to get the free dining. There is no way around that. You do not get to deduct the price of 2-day tickets from your package price just because you have an AP or AP voucher.

What you can do, is buy your AP voucher now, activate it when you get to Disney, and put the 2-day ticket away for another visit.

Gotcha. I guess I was totally wrong on that, I thought I had read that I could upgrade my 2 day tix. to AP (which meant the cost of the 2 day tix. would be deducted from the AP price). Thanks for setting me straight.

You can certainly upgrade a 2-day ticket to an AP. And they will deduct the value of the ticket from the cost of an AP. You would then pay the difference.

However, you cannot purchase an AP voucher now in order to beat the price increase and then ask Disney to credit you back the value of your 2-day tickets from your free dining package when you arrive in Disney later this year.

Ahhh, in a perfect world that would be so nice for my wallet! Thank you so much for being patient and explaining this so I can understand it! Now I need to do some math and see what works best.

Marionnette - I've never purchased tickets before via UT through Mousesavers before but am thinking of doing this for our trip in December.

If I buy the tickets now, and I allowed to use these tickets in December, so I can miss the increase in price? You seem really knowledgable about this. Thanks!

Correct! :thumbsup2

If you buy the tickets now, they are good in December and you will not pay a price increase.

But if you purchase tickets now, you're pretty much locking yourself out of any package deals that Disney might offer in December. You can still hope for room-only discounts or exceptional offsite rates.

I'm obviously not marionette :) but yes. The tickets expire 14 days from FIRST use. So if you use them December 12, 2013, that is your first use.

Thank you for this!

We're brand new DVC owners and will be staying on points in December, so I'm not even sure if we could combine any offers if there was some available.

I guess that means that we can book 2013 packages starting Monday as well.
Don't be too sure about that. The link shows 2012 room rates and the new ticket prices. The 2013 room rates have not been announced yet and neither have the packages (which may or may not include things like luggage tags, Planet Hollywood vouchers, mini golf vouchers and arcade credits).

so does the AP look like it went up about $50 for adults and about $90 for the children 3-9?

FYI- I was just at the Disney Store and bought my vouchers there. The CM said that you could buy tickets at current prices until Tuesday- something to do with their system?

That's how it looks to me! I just bought 2 kids APs because of the huge increase. Thank goodness for DVC prices!
