Ticket Prices Going up and Up

If you did not know Disneyland ticket prices are going up to $99. So I am guessing just how high do you think the ticket prices will go years from now? If they're $100 now do you think they will be $150 or $200 for 1 park? Years from now?

I was just commenting on another thread that if they continue this pace we're going to see $200 single day non park hopping ticket prices by 2025.

I don't see how they can keep raising prices this fast unless we start seeing some really drastic changes in the economy, I am a Disney addict with a fair amount of disposable income but without an AP I couldn't even justify $100 ticket prices more than once or twice a year. At $200 I'd be doing one trip a year at most.

I agree. We manage to do 3-4 one day trips per year. With 5 of us its not cheap! We planned on buying APs this year but ended up needing to replace our central air system instead. If prices go over $100/day we will still go to the parks but I don't see us going more than twice a year.

The economy must be doing okay given the crowds filling the parks and the almost non-existent low season.

Well if they open a 3rd gate they'll encourage multi-day tickets by pricing the extra days a little lower so that the average cost per day will seem more reasonable.

At some point they will hit the ceiling. Even at $100 during off peak that is only $10 an hour, which to me seems reasonable for what you get-(except maybe as a family where you then x that by 5).

I think they should move to a variable pricing model that varies the ticket prices depending on the day. They could easily charge $200+ for daily tickets during the Christmas break. They could lower the price to $30 on slow days and not fill the park.

They're gonna price a lot of people out of the park,,,my wife and I included.:sad2:
Maybe Disney can get by on APs and the 1%s. (no offence to either) We just can't justify this any more.

I totally agree, I know there are others who don't and have reasons like I can only visit during summer because I'm a teacher etc or who feel that off peak visitors don't deserve to get into the park for cheaper because their accommodation is cheaper and you don't wait is as long of lines...
BUT IMO there is no doubt off season visitors are subsidising peak visitors costs. For example in Sept when we often visit the hours are shorter, multiple rides are down and nighttime entertainment is weekends only, the cost of running the park in Sept is simply not as high as running it in July, the provided services are diminished and therefore the ticket price should reflect that. If I am not staying on site the cheaper accommodation cost is irrelevant to Disney.

I get what you are saying but for us the ticket price is such a small portion of the cost of the trip that it's not (yet) the deciding factor.

RATS. Why couldn't they wait until next month?
Granted $7.00 aint much of an increase,but it's a 'down-payment' on a churro.

I can imagine the trip cost for you folks is outlandish.
We live only 7 hrs away by car. Of course the hotels figure ,"If they afford to pay more for tickets, they'll pay more for their room".
If we knew the $$ was goin for raises for the CMs,we wouldn't have too much of a problem with it. :rolleyes1

THe price increases aren't particularly excessive %-wise IMHO. I work in an industry with continual price pressure DOWNWARD, so a good deal of my time is spent on increasing productivity to offset the decreasing ASP. We've been successful so far, but I'd love a product so in demand as Disney is so that I could apply productivity on INCREASING prices.

Same for me,

However,
For locals it could be the major deciding factor. Has their price gone up as well (I know it is lower).

Unlike WDW, I can not buy non-expire tickets.

I suppose I better buy my tickets for my October trip, before the price increase makes its way through the supply chain of tickets.
Or has it already?

We live 8 hours away in Nor. Cal. Planning a trip for December and wanting to go on vacation and come home debt free. Its tough with a one income family and three children (I'm a SAHM). We are going all out this trip and not cutting any corners (except not staying on site!).

We only plan to visit every 4 to 5 years just due to cost... I think if the prices continue to increase at this percentage each year then in 4 to 5 years we will defiantly be on the fence about going again. At least until my children are old enough to stay home alone so I can take a job just to put $$ into our vacation fund.

However, the perk for you fine folks that can afford to go... less crowds. Its a win win for disney. I can't say that I blame them... economics 101. Supply and demand. :)

The price increase last year was much larger than this year, and the crowds were larger this year than years past.

The suspension of the so cal annual pass had me thinking our trip to WDW this year will be the last the mouse sees of us for a long time. To spend over 2000 to have passes (deluxe as select has too few options) is insane. We love Disney and I grew up going at least every year. That will not happen if it is over 400 for the 4 of us not including parking and food. Sad. Very sad that the elite pay more mentality has come to a place we love. We did not have passes this year and so will not for a long time. Legoland and the San Diego zoo will get our $$$$.

Just the opposite for me. I'm thinking that if the SoCal passes really go away, I may go more frequently. With fewer locals it may be more enjoyable. DL and DCA have been unbearably crowded the last few times I've been there.

Yes because the "locals" are just such awful people.

It's not the locals that are the problem. It's the vast number of people that creates a very crowded park.

Remember, it's those "locals" that keep the prices from being even higher because they frequent the Park when the "out of towners" are less in numbers.

It's not the "locals" -- it's the crowds.
