Right, so word is ticket prices are going up. So, question, will this affect the price of the military tickets that we'll be buying at our MWR office? And if so....if we were to go ahead and buy the tickets now (for a trip the first week in December), would we be able to get the current price? Or would those tickets expire before our trip?

Salute or Stars & Stripes tickets? Salute should remain the same price through the end of the current promotion. We contacted SOG about APs the day before the price increase and put in an order - not sure if they'll give us the pre-increase price or not.

I'm...not entirely sure what we got last time. I don't think I even knew Stars and Stripes was a thing. I just know we went to the MWR office at Ft. Belviour, paid around $400 between the two of us for a pair of tickets that I registered on MDE. We bought them about 6 months out from the actual trip last time, if that's helps to figure out which one

The Salute promotional tickets - the ones that are either a 4 or 5 day PH (or WPF&M, or PH+WPF&M) and that have to be activated at the gate and are limited to 6 per year per service member - didn't change.

The other kinds, I have no idea.

Salute tickets are either 4 days or 5 days, and you can add water park and fun. They run between $209 and $261. Those tickets will not see a price increase.

There are two other options you have. And for us before we got AP's we always used one of these options, because we traveled fromWA and stayed longer than 4 or 5 days.

Stars and strip tickets, are only for those staying on site or at SOG, they can be bought for a number of days, say 8 days, and your water park and fun is tied into the tickets. Just like the salute. When you buy either of these the water park and fun can be used as additional days, so if you go 5 days to a park, you then can use 5 days at the water park, or two days water park, 1 day DQ and 1 day golf. You can use them with a park day or on days you don't go to the park, and you can use more than one a day. These tickets are specially priced and probably will not go up.

There is regular MYW tickets you can also buy, at SOG or base, these tickets are just like MYW everyone else buys, except there is no taxes on them because you buy them on base. These tickets will see the price increase, once the base runs out of what they have on hand. Many bases don't carry a lot on hand, for us our base don't carry them at all, we have to call and ask them a week before to get them for us, since there is not a big demand for them in WA state.

You can go to the SOG web site and look up the tickets, we always did, for us Stars and Stripes offered the best deal, we saved about $8 an adult and $5 a child with the 10 day, rather than the MYW ticket for ten day with the hopper and water fun. And Stars and Stripes offered DQ and miniature golf so more fun.

Also, unlike MYW tickets, salute ticket extras don't expire until the date of the offer expires. So we were able to go one sept, use 2 water park days, then the next august bring that ticket back and use it for two more water days, or something else.

Sorry long explanation.

Okay, then we had Salute tickets last time then, I guess. Bought them, linked them to MDE, activated them at the gate at Animal Kingdom, 4 day Park Hoppers

Please, don't apologize for a long explanation. I'm trying to learn how this all works. So, when does the current Salute officer expire?

I am sorry, I misled something earlier. With the salute tickets the water and fun option, last as long at the tickets, so up until dec. 19.

With starts and Stripes, the water and fun only last one day more than the ticket, so if you buy a 5 day it last for 6 days. If you buy a 9 day it last for 10 days.

If you buy the MYW ticket thru shades of green or bass, than it expires after 14 days, even your water park and fun.

Hope that makes sense.

I....think it does. So, short version, if we were to go ahead and buy Salute tickets from the MWR office this week, they'd still be good when we actually arrive at WDW Dec 1st?

Yes - the price on the Salute tickets will not change so you can buy them now or wait until it gets closer to your trip. These tickets are good until the promotion ends - Dec 17th or 18th(somewhere around there).

How many park days are you planning?

For salute, you can get either 4 or 5 days.

For salute, you can choose:
a. Park hopper
b. Water parks
c. Water parks and park hopper

Options a and b are the same price, option c is extra.

I would purchase them at least 4 months before your trip. It is possible that they run out of the type of ticket your want, and would have to order them. Then, you want to get them in hand at least 60 days before your trip so you can get FP+ (or 30 if staying off site).

We just got the 5 day water parks tickets, and they cost $220 each.

I would strongly suggest you check out "militarydisneytips.com". They are a treasure trove of info...

If you want to get Salute tix, Shades of Green will ship them to you for a fee (you send them your info and the tix are activated when you RECEIVE them). Works for our family because we are nowhere near a base.

Fantastic, thanks for the help folks, I think we've got it figured out now. We'll be grabbing our Salute tickets at our local MWR here in the next week or two!
