Ticket prices for special needs guests

We have been visiting WDW for 6 years with our daughter who is severly autistic. We have always paid full price for her. A friend of mine said that certain "special needs" visitors get in free and she heard that autism is one such special need that can get a child in for free. Is there any truth to this? If so, I would be surprised, but knew this is the place to ask.

FYI - I am not expecting a free ticket and am happy to pay full price for a day at Disney with my daughter. We get more bang for our buck from a day at the parks with her than we do for our other "typical" kids. But - it is worth it to post the question here so that the facts can be set straight and to squash any untrue rumors out there.

How's that for avoiding flames! :goodvibes

Thanks

I'm afraid your friend misheard. Disney doesn't have any reduced price or free tickets for those with disabilities. Some other parks in the Orlando area do offer free tickets, but I'm not sure of the criteria. It was worth asking, though!

Disney has no discounts for people with disabilities.

This is because they pretty much have done as much as possible so that people with disabilities can participate in and enjoy the attractions (including rides). If you have not yet done so, you might want to look at the disABILTIES FAQ, especially Page 6.

Some of the other Orlando Area Parks will provide discounted tickets for people with certain physical disabilities (which require wheelchairs) and their attendants, but a large reason for that is the people will not have full access as at Disney.

I believe the only free passes for special needs kids are the trips granted through the Make A Wish Foundation.

That is true.
Many of the attractions are accessible, so there are not many 'reasons' to give a lowered price.
