Ticket Prices Are So Low is AP Still Worth It?

Hi,

We go twice a year so I figured I would be smart and save money by getting an annual pass. However with the new "Magic Your Way" ticketing systems the prices have dropped considerably for a 7 day stay (for instance). Unlimited park access to everything the AP has is available through MYW for only $268. So if I go twice for 7 days I pay $536 per person vs $550 per person with an annual pass. This makes the annual pass useful only if we go three times in the same yearly period which will never happen. Comments?

If you factor in AP rates on the resorts you still come out ahead - if you are able to get them. That would be one reason.

I believe there is a discount on food also. without purchasing the DDE. I am having the same dilemma.

I just renewed and the price per adult for an AP is $420.68. I am not sure who told you $550 but they are over $100 off a ticket. Also, the $420.68 includes tax. Hope this info helps :flower:

**I just reread your post and see you are talking about the Premium Annual Pass, sorry for the mistake.

There are different kinds of AP tickets, I got the one that cost $550. As for a hotel discount, that is another reason for the AP. My understanding is that you can apply the AP rate to any hotel room? Otherwise that would mean a room/building change and I know have the view I requested. If a room change is required that would be upsetting...

If you like the flexibility the AP is still the way to go. I like to park hop I like to just go to a park to eat, etc. I would not have that flexibility if I had a 7 day MYW without park hopping. I figure once you add extras to the base ticket you save less and less.

montblanc my math comes up a little different.

237.50 (advance purchase) is for 7 day, no pluses but with hopping. An AP is 420. 2 tickets of 7 day MYW with hopping would be 475. Each MYW would expire after 14 days.

538 is for a PAP. 285 is for a 7 day hopping with 5 pluses that expire. A total of 570.

What ticket where you looking at that was $268?

Hi,

You are looking at the old ticketing system, do the following...

Go to the Disney World Site and select 1 ticket for ages 10+ for 7 days. Then select "Magic Your Way" ticket. The price will be $199. Then add Park Hopper Option and Magic Plus Pack Option, the price then becomes $268.

The features of the PAP are essentially the same as the above with MYW in relation to theme park benefits except of course it is good for a year. The PAP is $515 + $33.49 = $548.49. If there were no AP hotel benefit I would spend less getting 14 days via MYW for 2 vacations.

Actually....

I think that $268 price is without tax for that 7 day park-hopper with the pluses....

However....on TicketMania.com....you could get a 7 day park-hopper with 5 pluses (expires after 14 days of 1st use) for $274 delivered (if you subscribe to Mousesavers.com to get the additional discount).

So....2 trips would be $548 which would be about the same as the PAP ticket.

The two major differences would be:

Pro-MYW tickets - If you purchased 2 MYW tickets now, you would not have to use them both within 1 year. You could use the tickets anytime you want. So...let's say you go in June 2005. You can then go back in September 2006 using your 2nd set of tickets. Basically....you are not constrained to having to go twice within 365 days.

Pro-PAP - You get room discounts when they are available. You get free parking. You get access to the Disney Dining Experience....etc....as well as a few other perks that I'm probably forgetting.

Hi,

You are right about the tax on the tickets for $268, the point I was simply trying to make is that the savings in my case used to be significant, now it barely warrants purchasing an PAP.

It probably is more of a toss up depending on your touring style. We are DVC members and tend to do the parks a little at a time. The DVC discount on AP's and because it doesn't cost a "day" to go to the park for dinner makes the AP work for us.

If you tend to go to parks for an entire day when you do go I'd look at what it would do to buy 10 day MYW passes and then again on the next visit. You'd still have tickets left for your trip the next year.
